Millison Elwood "Ducky" Duff, Jr., of Norfolk, Virginia, a longtime Tidewater area surveyor, recently passed away at age 84. Graveside services will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk, VA.

VAS scored a major victory yesterday in the House of Delegates. HB 978 is a bill to apply the Virginia sales tax to services. As introduced by Delegate Vivian Watts (D-Fairfax), the bill would have exempted certain professional services, "including education or training, legal, financial, accounting and tax preparation, real estate, engineering, architectural, or insurance services". VAS sought to include land surveying among the exempt professional services and such an amendment was approved yesterday in the House Finance Committee. The bill was then continued to 2027, meaning further consideration was delayed until the 2027 session.
