Advocacy in the classroom matters, too. ✏🍎

CASA volunteers work with teachers and school administrators to identify a child’s needs, monitor their progress, and help ensure they receive the support they need to succeed. 💙

Because some back-to-school essentials can’t be bought in a store. 🎒

They’re created when compassionate community members choose to care about the well-being of children in their community. ❤

The truth is…youth in the child welfare system need someone they can count on.

Having a CASA by their side increases their chances of graduating high school, enrolling in Fostering Futures, and staying connected to a reliable adult in their community. 🎓✨

While Alice isn’t real, her story represents the realities many of our children and youth face – having to show up at school and navigate everyday challenges while their home life is falling apart.

Sometimes, just having someone you can turn to can be the hope a child or youth needs to get through those tough moments.

Children who have been exposed to abuse or neglect at home often face greater challenges than their peers and carry that trauma into the classroom.

A traumatic home life can:
📚Hinder their ability to focus on their studies
🏫Make it difficult to adapt to school settings
🎒Make it harder to socialize with classmates

Children from unstable homes may need additional support to succeed in school – which is why CASA volunteers play a vital role in a child’s life.

As advocates, our volunteers help connect children to the right resources while providing the support and encouragement they need to succeed in and outside the classroom. 💙

Every child deserves a fair chance to learn, grow, and thrive. 🎓

Donate or volunteer to help a child this school year.

Showing up for youth today means creating a brighter and hopeful tomorrow.

Our volunteers help at-risk youth in our community by:
✅Offering consistent support during life’s most difficult moments
✅Providing guidance as they navigate important transitions
✅Celebrating milestones, big and small, and showing up when it matters most

Youth in foster care need extra support, and our volunteers are dedicated to providing it.

Emiliano's* CASA Success Story 💙

Emiliano was born with substances in his system, and just 10 days after his birth, his parents left the state and abandoned him. He spent the first five months of his life in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). 🏥

The Department of Family Services (DFS) and his CASA made multiple attempts to contact both parents. Neither parent responded, visited Emiliano, or completed court-ordered services. With no relatives able to care for him, Emiliano remained in foster care. Throughout this time, Emiliano was surrounded by people who cared deeply for him. His foster family provided a loving home as he continued to heal and reach important developmental milestones. ✨

Alongside his foster family, his CASA volunteer and service providers offered the stability and support he needed to thrive. His CASA became a consistent presence in his life. The CASA visited him 39 times, made 22 recommendations in his best interests, and submitted three court reports. During each visit, the two bonded over reading a new book together. 📚

Two years later, Emiliano was adopted by the foster parents who had loved and cared for him from the very beginning. Because of their commitment and the advocacy of his CASA, Emiliano now has the safe, permanent, and loving home every child deserves. 💙
