Welcome, CASA Fall Class of 2026! ❤️

Please join us in congratulating and celebrating our newest CASA volunteers!✨

Last night, nine compassionate and eager volunteers officially took their oath to protect and advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children with open cases before the Fairfax County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court.

Our newest volunteers come from all walks of life, bringing diverse experiences, skills, and perspectives to their advocacy. ❤️

From military veterans to former teachers and former CASAs, they all share the same heart and passion for helping children in our community.

We’re incredibly grateful to have them on board and look forward to the impact they’ll make in the lives of the children and families we serve. ❤️

At Fairfax CASA, we honor and celebrate the rich culture, deep histories, and heritage of Indigenous communities.

As an organization that serves children from diverse backgrounds, we recognize the importance of keeping children closely connected to their heritage, culture, and communities. These connections can play an integral role in a child’s sense of belonging and healing process.

We’re so grateful to have been serving our community for 37 years, advocating for some of our community’s most vulnerable children and families.

Our impact spans decades and has only been possible because of our incredible community of volunteers, supporters, and partners who continue to believe in our mission and the children we serve. 💙

🚨Last week, we received 10 new referrals, bringing the number of children on our waitlist to 45.

That means 45 abused and neglected children are facing the child welfare system without a constant, reliable advocate to ensure their well-being and needs are being heard and met.

Help us provide a CASA to every child on our waitlist.

Yesterday, our team of supervisors joined our trainees during training to share their insight, experience, and advice with our soon-to-be CASA volunteers.

Our trainees had the opportunity to ask questions and gain a better understanding of the advocacy process from a supervisor’s point of view.

There’s just one day left of training before our trainees swear in and officially become CASA volunteers.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness, show support, and stand in solidarity with survivors and victims of domestic violence. 💜

Domestic violence is one of the leading factors bringing children and families into the child welfare system. At Fairfax CASA, about 46% of our cases last year involved some form of domestic violence.

Children don’t have to experience abuse to be impacted by it. Witnessing domestic violence can have lasting effects on a child’s mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Children who have experienced or witnessed violence in their home face a greater risk of repeating the cycle of abuse themselves.

This month and every month, we stand with survivors and their children as they work toward safety and stability. We remain committed to being the reliable, constant presence children can count on. Every child deserves to feel safe, and through our advocacy, we work to make that possible.

September is National Recovery Month 💙

This month, we recognize the millions of Americans living in recovery, as well as the families and communities who continue to support them along the way.

At Fairfax CASA, 67% of our cases have involved substance use. Addiction is a disease that can be difficult to overcome, and it has impacted many of the children and families we serve.

Recovery isn't a linear process. It often requires a strong support system, equitable access to resources and treatment, and meaningful connection.

How can you help a loved one in recovery?

💙Advocate for legislation that supports and funds recovery programs

Behind the scenes, our volunteers are going above and beyond to provide the court with accurate, unbiased information while helping ensure children remain safe throughout the process.

Advocacy is much more than what it looks like on the surface. It takes time and commitment to making sure every child’s needs and best interests are represented.
