There is so much information out there online about breastfeeding. Sometimes, it feels like TOO MUCH info even! LLL meetings offer information, but they also offer support and encouragement, which is what a lot of us need to meet our nursing goals, whether that’s for 2 weeks, 2 months, or 2 years!

Will we see you today at our 10am Wednesday in-person meeting in Fairfax at Fairfax Home Birth offices?

La Leche League meetings are FREE meetings led by parent volunteers who have breastfed their own children and been trained and accredited by La Leche League International to offer information and support to other nursing parents.

Meetings are attended by expectant, new, and experienced parents and their children. Babies and children are welcome. Experienced nursing parents who have weaned are always welcome. Formula feeding but interested in learning more about feeding human milk? Stop by!

Meetings start with brief introductions and are followed by discussing any questions or concerns parents have brought. If time allows, we discuss rotating breastfeeding topicsoften cover bringing baby home, starting solids, and weaning. Our meetings are informal, supportive discussions, not classes or lectures, and no two meetings are exactly alike.

We get this question a lot! If you or your baby are sick, just keep on nursing.

We get this question a lot! If you or your baby are sick, just keep on nursing.

Yes! You can breastfeed when you’re ill. In fact, continuing to breastfeed helps protect your baby because your body produces antibodies and other immune factors that pass through your milk. These help your little one fight off the same illness or reduce its severity. Breastfeeding while sick also supports your own health by preventing engorgement and maintaining your milk supply, which can be disrupted if feeds or pumping sessions are skipped.
