WE ARE FULL. Maxed out. At capacity. Every kennel, every foster home, every space: FULL. And yet our hearts still want to say yes.❤️ That’s why now is the time to FOSTER or ADOPT!

We have wonderful dogs and cats waiting for a safe place to stay - a soft bed, comfort, and most of all, love. And when an animal like little Boone comes along, it’s hard to say no. Boone is one of four dogs we rescued today. 🐶

🐾❤️ IT’S NATIONAL DOG DAY — AND TODAY IS A VERY BIG DAY FOR SEVEN VERY LUCKY DOGS! ❤️🐾 They are leaving a rural shelter behind and are on their way to HART!** 🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶 We’re also bringing **three cats** to safety today! 🐱🐱🐱

Before they could even climb aboard HART’s transport van, our veterinary expenses added up. Diesel needed surgery to remove both of his eyes, and Dennis needed veterinary care for severe flea dermatitis. They were treated by veterinarians near the shelter, and now they’re on their way to HART where their next chapter can begin. ❤️

This is what rescue looks like. It’s not always easy, and it certainly isn’t inexpensive. But when an animal needs help, we help. The medical care, the transport, the food, the medications, the safe places to sleep - it all adds up. Can you help us give these 10 animals the fresh start they deserve? ❤️

Happy National Dog Day from Zoe A who recently enjoyed a day out with volunteers! 🐶💕

"My HART volunteer friends have been stopping by The Dog Stop - Centreville, VA to spend some time with me. We have been going to local parks to work on my leash skills. They say I am an excellent student and have made huge improvements! No more lunging at strange people or dogs. In fact, a dog barked at me on the path today and I totally ignored him. I got a yummy treat for that one. 😍

After our long walk, the volunteers said I was such a good girl that they treated me to some Popeyes French fries (not too many, I am watching my figure), I do love my Popeyes though! They said that I am doing so well, that I get to go to the adoption event on Saturday at the PetSmart in Chantilly to show off my skills. I am looking forward to that new adventure and hope to see all of you there! Attached are a few pics from our adventure." Copper is proof that a smile can light up a room - or a boat trip! 😃🛥 This handsome 4-year-old boy always seems to have a happy grin on his face, and his sweet, loving personality is just as irresistible. He had so much fun on a recent boating trip with his fab foster parents! We had to share some pics. 🥰😍

This affectionate boy loves people and happily comes when called. He's great with other dogs, ignored the cats he's met, and does well with children, making him a wonderful addition to many different kinds of families. 💕 One of his favorite pastimes is emptying the toy box in search of the perfect toy to carry around!

Copper came to HART after his owner could no longer care for him. Before arriving, he suffered an old injury to his left rear leg that was never treated properly. As a result, Copper usually gets around on three legs, although he occasionally uses all four. Don't let that fool you - he runs around the yard, climbs stairs, and keeps up just fine!
