Fairburn Brush 20 and crew along with the South Dakota Task Force assisted the Texas A&M Forest Service and local Presidio County VFDs in containing the Redford fire a few days ago. The wildfire threatened 4 structures and burned up to the banks of the Rio Grande and the border with Mexico as seen in the photo taken by Dalton Harrison, Fairburn firefighter.
The South Dakota Task Force returned to Fort Stockton at 4 AM the next morning.

South Dakota kids are invited to participate in the SDWF’s 2nd Annual Coloring Contest!
This year, the contest features a brand new mascot, Flash Wild, representing SD Wildland Fire.
There are three age groups, and each group will have its own unique design to color.

Fairburn Volunteer Fire hosted the annual Wildland Fire Refresher course last night. 32 volunteers from Fairburn, Folsom, and Scenic attended. Our volunteers are required to attend this annual training to be involved in wildland fires outside of our home district. Thank you to the Hermosa School for allowing us the space for this class.

Today makes 8 days that Fairburn has worked on the Qury fire near Custer. Many thanks to the crews that have put in long days to make sure this fire didn’t grow larger in the heat this week.

Fairburn Brush 23 with a crew of 3 and Tender 1 are on the fire southeast of Custer this morning.

Fairburn Brush 22 with a crew of 3 will be assisting Custer tonight with the fire southeast of Custer. Brush 23 was chasing false alarms at home this afternoon.

Multiple fires have started in the area. The largest and most visible is located southeast of Custer. Fairburn will be sending a truck when we can spare resources here at home.
