Saying Yes to God !
God first sent my husband and I to Honduras in 2012. I was not thrilled about going!! I had some serious OCD issues. Though the fear was telling me not go, the desire of being obedient to God out weighed . I must admit it wasn’t easy.. for the first three years I had anxiety attacks, cried wanting to go back home. God was so faithful through those years. Little did I know that each year he was stripping those fears away.. changing me from the inside out. By being obedient God freed me from the OCD issues , along with changing my whole outlook on life.. The things I would have missed had I said No . God has given me a love for the Tolupan Indians that I could have never imaged !!!!
Through the years and building upon relationships, God showed me a need for the women and children on Flower Mountain.. One that only he can provide by working through me and you.
These women work so hard. By the time they get up and go to bed. Cooking (like killing the chicken in the yard kind of cooking) , washing cloths (like scrubbing on a rock and hanging out to dry kind of washing ) , keeping eye out for everyone kids in the village. These women do not have medical care ( so no protection from having more children) having them naturally in the home without any medical care for her and her child . Majority of them weren’t able to go to school or finish, so they never learned how to read.
Through the Sponsorship Program and Bead Project you and I are able to help the women send their children to school. Though many of these students probably will not leave the village. If they can have a education perhaps they would not be victims of those that come to take advantage of them. Most important they would be able to READ the BIBLE for themselves and to the elders.
