Thank you Karen Caudill from Michael's House for joining us at Rotary Club of Fairborn and sharing more about the incredible work they do for children and families in Greene County.

Each year, approximately 1,200 children in Greene County are reported abused or neglected. Michael’s House exists to help children and families through some of the most difficult moments in their lives by providing a safe, supportive place where children can share their stories and receive the care and advocacy they deserve.
For more than 10 years, Michael’s House has served as a voice for abused children by bringing community partners together in one central location to provide hope, healing, and support for families across our community.

We appreciate the opportunity to learn more about their mission and thank them for the compassionate work they do every day for Greene County families.

The Fairborn Rotary Club would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Gil Esparza of Warriors on Wheels Cycling for taking the time to speak with our club and share his powerful mission. 🚴🏼

Founded in Xenia, Warriors on Wheels Cycling is dedicated to “Changing the lives of Veterans and First Responders, One Bike at a Time.” Through this mission, the organization provides bicycles, safety equipment, and a supportive community that helps veterans reconnect, heal, and move forward.

Since its founding in 2017, Warriors on Wheels has been making a meaningful difference by giving a bike to a veteran each month, along with the opportunity to participate in group rides, community service, and ongoing team support. Gil shared how cycling can help combat isolation, depression, PTSD, and other challenges many veterans face when returning to civilian life, while rebuilding connection, accountability, and purpose.

We were also proud to celebrate a special moment during this meeting as our two newest Rotarians, Jennifer McIntire and Nolan McNamee, were recognized as Paul Harris Fellows, continuing the Fairborn Rotary tradition of every member achieving Paul Harris Fellow status.

Thank you to Ashley Barchus from Tree of Life USA with Branches of Hope for speaking to the Fairborn Rotary Club about their impactful ministry work in Sakété, Benin, Africa. This connection began after longtime Rotary member Tom Kirsch visited the village last year, spending two weeks volunteering with the Tree of Life community and witnessing firsthand the difference their work is making.

Ashley shared how Tree of Life supports families by providing education assistance, food, formula for malnourished babies, and essential medical care, along with recent progress such as purchasing land and drilling a well to provide clean, reliable drinking water. Tree of Life currently sponsors 50–75 students, hosts a weekly youth group of about 75 young people, and serves vital health and nutritional needs, all on an annual budget of approximately $200,000 raised through private donations.

If you’re interested in helping Tree of Life continue and expand this life‑changing work, we encourage you to consider making a donation or learning more about how to support their mission. Every contribution helps provide hope, resources, and opportunity to families in need.

Thank you, Ashley, for an inspiring presentation and for sharing how this ministry is making a global impact. 💙💛

Today, there are more than 2,800 active graduate teams nationwide, supported by 6,100+ volunteers and over 1,100 puppies currently being raised by community members just like us.

Canine Companions provides service dogs to adults, children, veterans, and professionals in healthcare, education, and criminal justice helping people live with greater independence, dignity, and confidence.

Thank you for an informative and inspiring presentation, and for showing how local volunteers can make a life‑changing impact—one puppy at a time! 🐾

Thank you to Travis Binkley from Clark State College for joining the Fairborn Rotary Club and sharing an informative overview of the opportunities available at Clark State!

We learned how Clark State continues to grow and serve our region by offering certificates, associate degrees, and now bachelor’s degrees, with flexible options designed especially for working adults. One highlight that really resonated with our members was the ability for students in certain fields to earn college credit for relevant work experience, helping them move faster toward their goals.

Clark State serves more than 7,200 students across all ages and nearly 80% of degree‑seeking students receive some form of financial aid, making higher education more accessible to our community.

We appreciate Travis taking the time to connect with our club and highlight how Clark State is preparing students for today’s workforce while strengthening our local economy. Thank you for the great presentation and for the important work you and Clark State do for our region!

At last week’s Rotary Club of Fairborn meeting, we were excited to welcome our newest Rotarian, Jennifer McIntire! We’re glad to have her join our Rotary family and look forward to her involvement in the club. 💛💙

Our program featured Jill Rindfuss from CollegeAdvantage Ohio's 529 Plan. Jill shared how a 529 plan offers a simple, flexible way to save for whatever schooling comes after high school. Jill explained that Ohio 529 is designed for do‑it‑yourself savers looking for a low‑cost way to invest and emphasized that 529 plans are not just for kids. These plans can be used for a variety of education purposes and offer flexibility many people may not realize. Thank you to Jill for an informative presentation and to everyone who attended for making it another engaging meeting!
