The City of Fairborn invites the community to come together on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 9 a.m. for our annual 9/11 remembrance ceremony at Calamityville, located at 506 E. Xenia Drive.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, and we invite you to join us as we remember the lives lost, honor the heroes who responded, and reflect on the strength and unity that followed.

A special highlight of this year’s ceremony will be a performance by the Fairborn Civic Band , featuring music commemorating the 25th anniversary. The City of Fairborn Police and Fire Joint Honor Guard, and several other community groups will also take part in the ceremony as we pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice and those who answered the call that day.

Fairborn’s 9/11 Memorial features a steel beam recovered from the World Trade Center, providing a lasting place in our community to remember and reflect. 25 years later, we continue to honor the lives forever changed by September 11.

Our Fairborn Civic Band flautists presented their director with these unique tokens of appreciation. In honor of this FCB 30th anniversary year and three of our featured 2026 composers, we are sharing this short little video clip of the Beethoven kitchen timer accompanying a 1940 2 cent postage stamp honoring John Philip Sousa, and a 1996 32 cent postage stamp honoring Glenn Miller. Clever, ladies!

🎻 Feast your ears! This past Saturday, August 22, the A.C. Strings/Fairborn Regional Orchestra enthusiastically presented "A Symphony of Nature." Enjoy your Fairborn Regional Orchestra, under the direction of Mr. Gary C. Johnson, performing the first movement of Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 in F Major, "Pastoral," from this concert! It was 12 years ago that the directors of the Fairborn Civic Band and A.C. Strings joined musical forces to create the Fairborn Regional Orchestra!

🎶 UPCOMING CONCERT! 🎶 This Saturday, August 22, 7:00PM, the A.C. Strings and Fairborn Regional Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Phillipa Burgess, Mr. Gary C. Johnson, and Miss Mary Jo Johnson, is pleased to present "A Symphony of Nature" 🌷 The concert will take place at Abiding Christ Lutheran Church, 326 E. Dayton Yellow Springs Rd, Fairborn.

🎶 It was twelve years ago that the Fairborn Civic Band, under the direction of Mr. Gary C. Johnson, collaborated with the Fairborn A.C. Strings, composed mainly of string students of Mrs. Kathy Johnston and Dr. Phillipa Burgess, to form the Fairborn Regional Orchestra (FRO). The FRO collaboration continues as a remarkable musical opportunity for all ages within Fairborn and neighboring communities, presenting biannual concerts.

🎶 This summer’s A.C. Strings/FRO musical theme is “A Symphony of Nature,” featuring the full orchestral works of Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 6, mvt 1," Edvard Grieg’s “Morning Mood,” and Ottorino Respighi’s majestic “Pines of Rome (Finale).” Various chamber groups and string orchestra ensembles of all ages will present music by composers such as Brian Balmages, Soon Hee Newbold, Antonio Vivaldi, and Elena Kats-Chernin. The concert is free and open to the public!
