Our group only has 43 members and I know that we have more out there. Ladies help us get the word out to members. We meet first Wednesday of every month at 6:30pm at the ALTS. We are formed to support our members and their families. We put on events to empower and encourage each other. Our goal is to create a safe space to discuss the challenges we face and network ideas to improve our situations.

End of day two marked a fantastic conclusion to Women Lead the Build, highlighted by an outstanding group of participants!

Congratulations to Laura for winning the door prize, we hope she makes good use of her new drill and bit set! She wasn’t the only one to leave with something valuable—every attendee walked away with a wealth of knowledge and hands-on experience, offering insight into what it’s like to work within our union.

Stay tuned—we already have exciting plans in the works for upcoming events, and we look forward to sharing them with you.

Ending national apprenticeship week with the start of Women Leading the Build weekend! What a showing for the first of two days! Alaska Laborers Training School invited some current apprentices and recently journeyed out women of Local 942 to instruct the stations. The ladies that attended today were able to get hands-on experience, learn about the apprenticeship, and what it’s like to be a woman working in construction from the women working in construction!

Today is May Day and although it is not a federally recognized holiday it is certainly important to our history. Perhaps take a moment to research the history. The reflect on how fortunate we are for past and present workers and our brothers and sisters who continue to "fight" for our rights. Celebrate this day and stand as proud Union members!
