Resource Center for Parents and Children Because kids don't come with instructions! Over the years our programs and services have varied; however, all have focused on the same mission.

The Resource Center Parents and Children (RCPC) has grown in size, strength, and commitment since 1973, when it was started by a small group of concerned Fairbanks citizens who met as the Fairbanks Child Protection Task Force (FCPTF) to discuss the problems of child abuse and neglect in the Fairbanks community. The prevention of child abuse and neglect begins with strengthening the family structure, helping parents with parenting skills, and providing a safe place for parents to share and deal with parenting issues. The Resource Center for Parents and Children has been successful due to quality staff, programs and countless volunteers and social service agency partners. To all that have shared in our agency's history, thank you.

🧑 September 29th, Orange Shirt Day 🧑

IAC remembers and honors the children who never returned home, and all those whose lives and families have been forever impacted by the residential school system.

Orange Shirt Day is a time to reflect, to listen, and to commit to healing. It is also a reminder that prevention matters, preventing harm, breaking cycles, protecting children, and creating spaces where every child is safe, valued, heard, and treated with dignity.

As we move forward, may we do so in a healthy way: supporting one another, caring for our communities, honoring those who came before us, and creating a future where children can grow surrounded by love, safety, culture, and belonging.

🧑 We remember. We heal. We protect.🧑

We are so grateful for the opportunity to take some time out of the office and attend The Alaska Conference on Child Maltreatment hosted by the Alaska Children's Alliance. We’re also grateful to have folks from partnering agencies like Foundation Health Partners and the Interior Alaska Center For Non-Violent Living.

We’re wearing orange to recognize Orange Shirt Day where we to honor Indigenous children who survived residential schools and remember those who did not return. 🧑
