If the superintendent decides to enact school closure or delayed start to school, communication to parents and staff begins.

Teachers should be worrying about lesson plans, grading papers, and getting through the school day. Not whether they and their students will make it home safely.

Our hearts are broken for the students, teachers, staff, and families of Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon.

We're devastated. We're angry. And we're exhausted by tragedies like this happening in our schools.

Every child deserves to feel safe at school. Every teacher deserves to feel safe doing their job. And every family deserves to know their loved ones are coming home.

To the entire Silver Rail Elementary community, teachers everywhere are grieving with you and sending you love.

This should never be part of being a teacher. Enough is enough.

On Indigenous Peoples' Day, The NEA Foundation honors the histories, cultures, and contributions of American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian peoples, and the educators and students carrying legacies forward in public schools.

FEA, the Tentative Agreement passed during the electronic voting that ended on Oct.6th. Thank you for taking the time to vote.

The school board will decide whether to accept the Tentative Agreement during their regular meeting on Tuesday, October 20th.

Remember, this agreement, if accepted by the school board, will only be for this school year. Our dedicated Bargaining Team will be back to the bargaining table in January. They will continue to need your support.

A personal Voting Link was sent to your home email last week from NEA-Alaska. Check your SPAM folder if you can’t find it or call Alex at the FEA Office. Voting on the TA will close at 5:00 PM tomorrow (Tuesday, October 6th).
Also remember to vote in the local elections tomorrow!
