📢 FREE Office Desk Available!

We are looking to rehome our office desk that has served our mission for many years!

This desk has been well-loved by many Executive Directors in the past, and we hope it can give its next owner the same ambition and foundation it has given us. This desk comes in two parts, forming an L-shape. Both pieces have plenty of drawer space, perfect for your sticky notes of ideas, plenty of file cabinet space for your paperwork, or a designated SNACK drawer! Plus, there’s about 60” of horizontal space to really spread out and get the job done!

If you are interested in a piece of LCA history, please DM us ASAP! Must be able to come by and pick it up from our location by 10/8!

We had SO much fun during National Adult Education and Family Literacy Week last week! ✨📚

We celebrated literacy, community, and the people who make our work possible with a week full of fun activities for our students and their families!

Thanks to our generous community, we were able to give out books to our students and their families across the Interior, including local and rural communities. Every book donated to the Literacy Council of Alaska through Forget-Me-Not Books helps us put more resources into the hands of the people we serve!

Students received a fun reading log to keep track of how many books they’ve read and learned more about their peers through a fun mystery board filled with facts they shared about themselves. They also did a Literacy Council scavenger hunt and searched around our office for hidden QR codes! Each one led them to helpful resources, fun literacy videos, and more!

What a fun week! Thank you for supporting our students and helping us spread the joy of literacy! 💛

CONGRATULATIONS, CLASS OF 2026!

Last month, we celebrated TWENTY of our students as they walked across the stage and achieved the incredible milestone of earning their high school equivalency diplomas! Well done, Graduates! 🥳🧑‍🎓

Graduation is one of our favorite nights of the year as we celebrate the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. Six of our graduates are currently enrolled in our Pathways program, too, and they will continue working toward their training or employment goals! Many other graduates are well on their way to their goals, as well, and we couldn’t be more proud of them and all they will accomplish!

We’d like to extend a huge thank you to the friends, families, staff, and community members who encouraged and supported our graduates from start to finish! Thank you to our graduation sponsors, too, who gave generously to make this an evening to remember!

Good luck, Graduates! This is only the beginning! 🎓🌟

After four faithful years at the helm of the Literacy Council, today is Lucie's last day! We've been fortunate to have her steadfast leadership through some big chapters, and we'll sorely miss having her in the office from day to day. Her kindness and thoughtfulness have carried us through again and again, and for that, we'll always be grateful!
