Fairbanks Art League
"Writing Skills"
By Amy Helmericks
Enjoy socializing & networking 6:30-7PM
The meeting starts at 7PM
Wednesday, April 10th,
At the Civic Center, in the Blue Room
Dear Art League Members,
Amy Helmericks [[email protected]] asked a valuable question. If artists (visual, dancers, actors, writers, etc.) have professional portraits done, why not have other aspects of business done professionally? A good question sometimes leads to creative responses. And Amy is now in a new line of business.
Amy is a writer. A large percentage of us visual artists find stringing two sentences together a daunting task. How many of you wait till the last moment to write an "Artist Statement"? This is after spending 100s of hours building the body of work. Yet, it reflects as greatly on the overall success of your show. I'm sure I'm not the only visual artist who wished I had paid more attention in English, rather than visualizing how to get the flower vase to look round and sitting on a table.
Amy is going to share some writing skill development tasks with us on Wednesday night. More importantly, she will be launching her new line of services. For a small fee you can have her write your Bio, Statement & Resume. Think how easy it will be to apply for a grant, or hand in the 'Bio' for the next joint show. Or, those with web sites, think about having a fun resume which develops curiosity in your art.
Hope to see you Wednesday night. Please contact me at [email protected] if you have questions.
