For years, local kayakers gathered in a small, private lake in North Pole, Alaska to enjoy an exciting new game called "Epic." The game mixed elements of the popular disc game, Ultimate, with the challenge of paddling in kayaks, and it was a big hit in that small circle of friends. Then, in 2014, some of the long time players and founding members of the group decided to do something bigger with their favorite sport: work together with the community to grow the sport and bring it to more people than ever before. On that day, Epic: Kayak Ultimate was born. Today, with the help of an amazing local community, EKU is able to provide this exciting game to players around interior Alaska. We strive to provide inexpensive access to an otherwise prohibitive sporting experience in a safe, family-friendly environment that supports both casual and competitive play styles.
