The city of David is excavating the road of ascent that goes from the pool of Siloam to the southern gate of the temple (about 1/2 mile long). Should be available to the public in about 3 years. You can see an early version of a soapbox below, where people would stand and address the crowds as the made the ascent.

75% of all pastors are considering quitting today, one in six do quit every year, 1,500 each month, most of them list discouragement as a reason. Discouragement seems like a fixable thing to us at RenewU, so about 16 years ago we started encouraging pastors by following the Jesus example of having them withdraw to the wilderness to be alone. That has grown into a pastoral retreat we are building near the Chatanika River about 35 miles NW of Fairbanks. We want to encourage pastors so they return to their ministries refreshed, renewed, and ready to reach others. Alaska changes these pastors, they leave inspired with a new sense of hope, knowing God hasn’t forgotten them. When you renew a pastor, you renew a church, a marriage, and a ministry too. You aren’t going to live forever, so make your time and money count on things of eternal value, the kingdom of God.
