Fairbanks Hospital Foundation Community Caring For Community THE FOUNDATION’S VISION
Community caring for our community. WHO MAKES UP THE HOSPITAL FOUNDATION?

THE FOUNDATION’S MISSION
The Hospital Foundation was established to ensure that we never again face the prospect of a community without health care by:

providing first-class medical facilities and technology;
overseeing an excellent operator;
creating an environment that attracts quality, caring physicians who wish to be a part of the community; and
creating partnerships to deliver quality patient care. THE FOUNDATION’S CORE VALUES
Excellence In Care
We are dedicated to satisfying patient’s healthcare needs and are constantly looking to improve the Hospital Foundation facilities and technology to serve our community. Friends In The Community
Our community is central to us and our decisions will be based on the evaluated needs of the Fairbanks community. Faithful Stewards – We are committed to fiduciary responsibility that protects the economic viability of our community-owned healthcare resources. Commitment to Partnerships – Our Foundation is committed to partnering in our Community relationships. Act With Integrity – We employ the highest ethical standards, demonstrating honesty and fairness in all our endeavors on behalf of the community. The Hospital Foundation membership includes a wide variety of people from many facets of the community, all of whom share a common interest in providing healthcare to Fairbanks and Interior Alaska. The Hospital Foundation members elect Trustees who govern The Hospital Foundation's business and oversee Foundation Health Partner's operation of the hospital campus for the community. Trustees are not paid nor are they compensated for the hundreds, sometimes thousands, of hours they commit to the Foundation. Trustees work closely with executive leadership from Tanana Valley Clinic (TVC), Fairbanks memorial Hospital (FMH) and Denali Center as well as local, state, and federal leaders to increase access and ensure availability of quality health care services for the Fairbanks community and all of the interior. HOSPITAL OPERATIONS
On January 1, 2017, Foundation Health Partners, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Greater Fairbanks Community Hospital Foundation, became the new operator of Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, Denali Center and Tanana Valley Clinic. For the first time in history, Tanana Valley Clinic, Fairbanks Memorial Hospital and Denali Center are locally owned AND operated. GFCHF and Foundation Health Partners is governed by a board of 13 members who share their expertise in finance, construction/engineering, information technology, government affairs and medicine/health care for the betterment of our hospital and community.

Meet MRI Technologist Lead, Laney!

Laney started her career in X-ray before moving into MRI after just one year. She first discovered MRI while shadowing during her X-ray program and was immediately drawn to the incredible image quality and level of detail. Nearly a decade later, she says she still loves what she does.

One of her favorite parts of the job is knowing that even a short interaction can make a meaningful difference in a patient’s care. She also serves as a preceptor for MRI students and loves watching them grow from brand-new students into confident, licensed technologists.

If you’ve never had an MRI, Laney wants you to know that all those loud, changing noises are completely normal. Think busy construction site! MRI is also very sensitive to movement, so staying as still as possible can help your scan go more quickly. For breast MRI appointments, she recommends arriving well hydrated and leaving jewelry and piercings at home. Breast MRIs require an IV and good hydration can make IV placement easier.

💙 Warmth, comfort, and kindness—stitched into every quilt. 💙

A heartfelt thank you to Tammy Miller, who shared her time, talent, and treasures to create these beautiful quilts for residents at Denali Center and our pediatric patients. 🧵✨

Each quilt is more than something warm to wrap up in—it’s a thoughtful gift that carries love, comfort, and a reminder that our community cares.

We are so grateful for Tammy’s generosity and the joy these beautiful quilts will bring to those who receive them. Thank you, Tammy, for helping make a difference—one stitch at a time! 💕

Meet the FHP Breast Imaging Team!💓

Meet Meagan, one of our mammography technologists and a familiar face at FHP, where she has worked for 22 years.

Born and raised in Fairbanks, Meagan loves talking with her patients and hearing the stories, history and little pieces of local lore they bring with them.

There’s a lot more happening during a mammogram than patients may realize. Mammography follows stringent standards for exactly what anatomy needs to be visible in each image. That’s one reason your technologist may spend time carefully positioning you and asking you to adjust or relax. Meagan’s best advice? Relax those muscles! Mammography images need to include tissue all the way back to the chest wall, including the muscle and relaxing can make getting the right image much easier.

Dr. Marsh spent Saturday morning manning the aid station at Goldstream Sports for the 63rd Equinox Marathon! As an orthopedic sports medicine physician, it was a fitting way to spend the weekend supporting runners out on the course.
