Committee for Safe Communities Advocate & educate on community, road safety, socioeconomic, environmental safety impacting Alaskans.

The Alaska Committee for Safe Communities (CSC) is made up of Advocates for Safe Alaska Highways, Native Village of Dot Lake and Citizens for Clean Air. The board includes Barbara Schuhmann from ASAH, Tracy Charles-Smith from Native Village of Dot Lake, and
Patrice Lee from Citizens for Clean Air. Web links to these organizations along with one of our partners, Anthropocene Alliance, can be found at the bottom of the CSC website at https://www.aksafecommunities.org/. Our goals are to hold the Kinross mining operation in Tetlin accountable to the same standards as all other entities that wish to use our public roads for commercial use; protect the environment from potential harm the mining operation will cause; keep all citizens being forced to share our roads with these ore haulers safe; and force the mining operation to present a complete safety plan on how it will protect Alaskan women and children from the dangers man camps pose to our communities.
