Fairbanks Prevention Alliance The Fairbanks Prevention Alliance's vision is a community free of sexual assault and intimate partner violence, achieved through community involvement.

The Interior Alaska Center for Non-Violent Living (IACNVL) received funding in 2017 for a comprehensive needs assessment of domestic violence and sexual assault in the Fairbanks North Star Borough (FNSB). This included the collection and analysis of both primary and secondary data sources to better understand the needs of the Fairbanks community and surrounding areas for the prevention of domestic violence and sexual assault. Based on the data collected the Prevention Alliance, with assistance of the Goldstream Group, developed a comprehensive, community level, strategic plan. From this strategic plan we will work together to address five factors identified through the data that impacts the prevention of domestic violence, sexual assault, and teen dating violence in the Fairbanks North Star Borough:

1 .Lack of Knowledge and Understanding about the Issues in the Community.
2. Lack of Active Support and Ownership of the Issues in the Community.
3. Barriers to Participation in Prevention in the Community.
4. Stigma Related to the Issues in the Community.
5. A Need to Develop Resilience in the Younger Generation.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. πŸ’œ

Our team at IAC believes prevention starts with strong, connected communities.

When we build protective factors, healthy relationships, trusted support systems, connection, belonging, and access to resources, we create safer communities where people can feel supported and thrive.

IAC offers survivor case management, emergency housing, advocacy, and support for those experiencing domestic violence.

If you or someone you know needs help, reach out to an advocate. You don’t have to navigate it alone.

πŸ’œ Visit: iacnvl.org
πŸ’œ Call: (907) 452-2293

Together, we can build safer, healthier, and more connected communities for today and future generations.

🧑 September 29th, Orange Shirt Day 🧑

IAC remembers and honors the children who never returned home, and all those whose lives and families have been forever impacted by the residential school system.

Orange Shirt Day is a time to reflect, to listen, and to commit to healing. It is also a reminder that prevention matters, preventing harm, breaking cycles, protecting children, and creating spaces where every child is safe, valued, heard, and treated with dignity.

As we move forward, may we do so in a healthy way: supporting one another, caring for our communities, honoring those who came before us, and creating a future where children can grow surrounded by love, safety, culture, and belonging.

🧑 We remember. We heal. We protect.🧑
