🌍 One of my most important full-time roles has never appeared on my résumé.
Raising my daughters.
On this International Women’s Day, I’m reflecting on what it really means to raise strong women.
I am the proud mother of three daughters.
My two oldest daughters are both in college, and today marks an incredible milestone in their journeys.
One is at MEPS today preparing to swear into the United States Navy tomorrow.
Her sister is in the process of joining the United States Air Force, currently waiting for final clearance.
My youngest daughter is still in middle school, watching her big sisters lead the way with courage, discipline, and purpose.
These moments remind me of something that often goes unrecognized:
Raising children is one of the most demanding leadership roles there is.
Parenting requires the very same skills organizations value in leaders:
• Vision
• Discipline
• Mentorship
• Strategic planning
• Emotional intelligence
• Perseverance
For years, while balancing work, community service, and professional growth, my most meaningful project has been raising young women who are prepared to serve something greater than themselves.
Raised here in the United States, while staying deeply connected to their African heritage, they carry both identities with pride as they step forward into service.
As a mother, my heart is full today.
Because sometimes the greatest impact we make on the world isn’t in boardrooms or titles — it’s in the lives we nurture and the leaders we raise.
Happy International Women’s Day to all the women shaping the future — both visibly and behind the scenes.
— A proud mother ❤️
