2026 Q1 Recap! We are progressing well towards improving mental wellness outcomes, increase help-seeking behaviors, and reduce stigmatization and risk factors for substance abuse disorder among 2SLGBTQIA+ and QTBIPOC youth and young adults through several initiatives. We are working with Speak Our United Liberation (SOUL) to provide Certified Wellness Coaching services with our Mental Wellness and Harm Reduction Coordinator seeing approx. 14 youth and young adults two to four times a month. Additionally, our Mental Wellness and Harm Reduction Coordinator works with youth through mentorship to support their projects (i.e., senior projects) and provide resources, guidance, and support. Our TQPOC program has already held 3 in-person events with a total of 90 attendees. These events have provided culturally responsive spaces to increase help-seeking behaviors and reduce risk factors for substance abuse disorder.
We have also attended several community resource distribution events where we provide gender affirming, health, and mental wellness resources and education materials. Our Affirmation Emporium (free store providing harm reduction, mental wellness, and gender affirming supplies) has to date provided supplies to 54 youth and young adults and over
400+ supplies to support their mental wellness, reduce harm and stigma surrounding substance use/abuse, and increase access to life saving gender affirming items. As we continue to think about our long term goals for our TQYC project we are focused on ensuring sustainability for programs like our Affirmation Emporium and continuing to provide
culturally responsive, de stigmatizing, and harm reduction programs for youth and young adults. We have found after 5 years of working in collaboration with youth and young adults in what they need, that programs that provide a mix of mental wellness support and material supports helps to increase overall well being and decreases negative impacts
from substances. Thus our long-term goals continue to reflect the needs of our community that prioritizes providing for both the emotional and the material.
