This photo was taken by the hive’s owner. The beekeeper forgot to insert the frames where bees usually build their honeycomb, so the bees took over and created their own design. What’s incredible is that their natural structure allows perfect airflow, helping control temperature and keep the hive stable. Bees are just brilliant!

"I spent the whole morning pouring this concrete path, making sure every inch was smooth and perfect. Took a short break, came back, and boom. This turtle decided to ruin it all. Well, I got a bit pi**ed since I have to do it all over again, but hey, I learned something important today: no matter how slow you are, you can still leave a big mark."

So many good things happening at our Friday morning meetings! Recently we honored fellow Skillbuilder, Susan, upon her retirement from Toastmasters. Thank you Susan for all your years of service and participation in this fine organization. Kudos to Colin who is progressing in Pathways (Toastmasters Education Program). Congratulations on completing Level 3 in Presentation Mastery. Every meeting we award a Best Table Topic Speaker, Best Evaluator, and Best Speaker. Pictured: Itzel, Daria, and Colin, winners from a past meeting.

We always leave our Friday morning Skillbuilders Toastmasters meetings encouraged and inspired. Jay shared this Chinese proverb while fulfilling the role of Pledge and Inspiration at our meeting last Friday. Every meeting a different member shares an inspirational thought, quote, or story to start our meeting off on a positive note. Thank you, Jay, for reminding us of the value of writing things down.
Be encouraged and inspired. Come visit us this coming Friday, June 6th, online from 7:30-8:45 AM (PDT). See https://skillbuilders.toastmastersclubs.org/ for more information.

Can you remember when you last received a handwritten note? Alas, is a handwritten note (along with a lot of other things) a lost art? Last Friday, Toastmaster Itzel chose the creative theme, Lost Art, for our meeting. We enjoyed reflective Table Topic responses and some further discussion about our theme before we adjourned.
Come join us tomorrow, Friday, May 2nd, online from 7:30-8:45 AM (PDT). See https://skillbuilders.toastmastersclubs.org/ for more information.

Celebrating Our Communities…a great theme brought to us last Friday by Toastmaster of the Meeting Daria. The next day some of our members took the opportunity to support our wider Toastmasters community by attending and helping at the Area 53, 54, and 55 International Speech & Tall Tales Contests at Sylvan Oaks Library in Citrus Heights. What an enjoyable Saturday afternoon of laughter and inspiration. We cheered on contestants from other clubs, especially our friend and former member Tara Abraham who is advancing to the Division Central Contest representing Area 54 in the International Speech Contest. Kudos Tara! Mark your calendars, the Division Central International Speech and Tall Tales Contest is set for Saturday afternoon, April 12th, from 1-5 PM in Dixon, California. It is an in-person event, but attendees may join by Zoom. For details and registration: https://www.district39.org/.../division-west-w.../

Skillbuilders Toastmasters came away rejuvenated Friday morning after celebrating the arrival of spring with inspiration, humor, and encouragement. A meeting recap from Jay Dudley, Club President: "16 years! That's how long I've belonged to Skillbuilders Toastmasters. This conservatively equates to 700+ meetings. Given that history, two things stood out about our most recent meeting:
1) The misunderstanding that reduced us from two prepared speeches to just one had an upside: more time for Table Topics, and more members participating. The caliber of each person's response to the prompt (each one animated, funny, personal, and within the timing constraints) made voting for "the best" quite hard. I cannot recall another "panel" of Table Topics speakers ever before doing so superbly. It's heartening to see people growing into mastery of this "art form"; 2) We introduced the newly purchased official Toastmasters tablecloth for the lectern table. It's rich dark blue is elegant, adding a welcome touch of color and "class" to how we present ourselves. Acquiring this was a very good decision.
It is such a long-term pleasure to be part of this club!"
