About Us

The purpose of the Society is to bring together people interested in the history of the Town of Fair Haven. Our extensive collection includes books, scrapbooks, magazines, photos, newspapers, town records, genealogical files, and artifacts. Donations are always welcome.

Our annual events include participation in Spring Fling (May), the Welcome Center Expo. (June), and Applefest (September). Each July the Society co-sponsors Local History Day with the Fair Haven Farmers’ Market. We also hold an annual tea for our senior citizens, an annual meeting with guest speaker (January), and a celebration on Charter Day (October). Board meetings are usually held on the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Our newsletter, the “Slate of Historic Events Past and Present,” is published quarterly.

The Society has several items for sale including books, postcards, notecards, mugs, and sweatshirts. All proceeds support the work of the Society. In addition, a campaign is currently under way to raise money to replace the wooden posts surrounding the Fair Haven Park with marble posts.
