Willow Update 🐺❤️

After returning from the veterinarian today, Willow headed straight to one of the dens that she and her roommate, Totem, dug themselves. The cool earth provides relief on hot days, offers a sense of security, and allows them to express one of their most natural behaviors—digging and resting in underground dens.

You may notice the shaved area on her chest. We had Willow checked after she developed a raw spot from scratching. The area was clipped and cleaned by our veterinarian, who also is sending a small sample to the lab for testing just to be safe. Willow is continuing her anti-itch medication to help keep her comfortable. Combined with her arthritis medication, she’s feeling much more like herself and enjoying a well-deserved afternoon relaxing in her favorite place.

Giving animals the opportunity to make choices, engage in natural behaviors, and live in an environment designed with their needs in mind is one of the many reasons sanctuary matters. Watching Willow settle into the cool dirt of her den after a busy day is a perfect reminder of that. ❤️🐺
