Lucky Hollow Nature Retreat

Lucky Hollow Nature Retreat A 22 acre refuge of trails and woodlands that will provide visitors gathering spaces for learning, recreation, friendship and respite.

In collaboration with self-advocates, teachers, therapists, educational institutions and community organizations, Lucky Hollow offers:

- A participant centered, sensory-safe resource for people with and without disabilities to meet and challenge themselves

- An environment that respects and provides for the unique ways people communicate from a strengths-based perspective

A field-trip destination with a community room, kitchen and seating for 30 people

- 22 acres of woodland trails with an out-door sensory regulation course of hammocks, platform swings, climbing structures

- Camping, music, movement, art, self-advocacy, facilitated communication and orienteering workshops

- Seasonal events

It’s that time again!

A beautiful rainy day in the woods with Anita Freezman and the Star Room crew from Jowonio School this week! The zip-line and swings and the library tent were busy! Kids saw a swallowtail butterfly, a family of mice, lots of frogs of different types and they picked blackberries, some even tried forest bathing! It was a joy to share this land again after a two year pause. Gratitude to the teachers, parents, trees, animals and friends that made this day happen!

Lucky Hollow is happy to announce an Earth Day partnership with LaFayette NY Scouts BSA Troop 100.
Scouts will arrive early 4/23/22 set up their tenting gear then spend a few hours in service, helping to clean up forest walking trails.
It’s been 2 years since we’ve been able to invite guests to enjoy the beauty of the forest trails and swings. With this help from the Scouts, we are a step closer to welcoming visitors again this summer.
Thanks to William Kendall and Landon Kendall who took the walking tour of the area last week and made the plans. Looking forward to working together to benefit all, including the trees!
