We were proud to award our community partner Spring-Ford Project Outreach with a capacity building grant for two commercial double door freezers and two thermal blankets for their Spring City Pantry! This equipment will help Spring-Ford Project Outreach better serve their Spring City neighbors facing food insecurity.

Our capacity project fund is a program we have established to build out capacity at our community partners to help with equipment, construction projects, or response to emergencies. We value our partnership with our community partners.🧡

One question we are often asked by community members is “what is food insecurity?”

The key components of food insecurity are:

▪️ Lack of availability or economic access to sufficient food
▪️ The uncertainty of where the next meal will come from
▪️ Lack of variety/quality of selection and volume needed

In Chester County, there are nearly 50,000 neighbors who are facing these challenges every single day. That is nearly 10% of our county’s total population who are facing food insecurity. Nearly 14,000 of these individuals are children.

At the Chester County Food Bank, our mission is to ensure access to nutritious and familiar food to all Chester County neighbors facing food insecurity. For us, that means we strive to provide our neighbors with distribution of food that is healthy and consistently available to them through pantries and food distribution sites across the county.

In the past fiscal year of 2026 (July 2025 – June 2026), we saw major increases in the amount of food distributed and donated by community members. This is in direct response to the rising cost of living and growing rates of food insecurity in Chester County.

We couldn’t meet this challenge without the support of our community in Chester County. Thank you for helping us ensure access to nutritious and familiar food to Chester County neighbors struggling with food insecurity.

We are so grateful for your support and dedication to CCFB and its mission!

We are already gearing up for holiday food distributions!

After listening to our community partners last holiday season, we found that more neighbors preferred chicken over turkey, so we got to work to make sure our neighbors have access to foods they love for the holidays.

This week, we received one of three deliveries preparing us for the holidays! We are ordering nearly 22,000 chickens, coming in at 112,800 pounds, costing roughly $130,000.

Thank you to our community for your continued support so we can continue to provide nutritious food to our neighbors facing food insecurity so they can focus on celebrating the holiday season with their loved ones. 💚

We are honored to serve as beneficiary of the Pennsylvania Hunt Cup Races’ 91st running of the Pennsylvania Hunt Cup on Sunday, November 1st!

This race challenges horse and rider with a rigorous four-mile course, but beyond the competition, the real victory is the collective support they garner to fight food insecurity across Chester County.

We are grateful for the generosity of everyone involved in this event, and to the Hunt Cup organizers for selecting our mission to be part of their legacy.

The results are in! We are excited to announce that this Hunger Action Month, we not only achieved but exceeded our goal of collecting 17,000 pounds of donated food by amassing a total of 17,121 pounds of food!

This amount of donated food will benefit so many Chester County neighbors facing food insecurity, and we are so grateful to each and every person who donated and joined us in our fight against food insecurity this Hunger Action Month. Thank you, Chester County! 🧡
