VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT!!

Meet Dayce Gill!

Dayce started volunteering for AFSP- NH & MA since last year. Dayce has been involved with our community walks and is looking forward to being more involved. Dayce's "WHY" is deeply personal. "I lost my dad to su***de, and I’ve also survived my own su***de attempt. Mental health is something I still struggle with daily. Being part of this organization has helped me feel less alone, both in my grief and in my own mental health journey. It’s given me a sense of connection, understanding, and purpose that means everything to me."

What is Dayce's favorite event?
My favorite events are the community walks. I love the sense of connection they bring, meeting new people, hearing their stories, and both giving and receiving support. There’s something really powerful about being surrounded by people who understand, and it always reminds me that none of us are alone.

Fun Fact about Dayce!
I love getting creative by making things out of cardstock.

Thank you for all that you do Dayce and sharing your story.

VOLUNTEER SPOLTLIGHT!

Meet Danielle Phillips!

Danielle is one of our newest volunteers, but has been supporting AFSP for much longer.

We asked Danielle what is her " Why". Danielle shared that her son died by su***de 5/1/2019. She most enjoys participating in community walks because she is able to give back while being in company of others who share a common goal.

Fun fact about Danielle is that she loves to crochet.

Pictured below is Danielle and her daughter participating in an Out of the Darkness Walk.

Thank you Danielle for all that you do in supporting the cause and spreading awareness.

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT

Meet Sue Ferreira!

Sue has been volunteering with AFSP-NH for one year, but has made an impact to our communities for far much longer. Sue sits on the board for the United Way.

We asked Sue to share her "why".

"I love supporting others and giving back to the wonderful community I live in!"

Which AFSP event is your favorite? Why?
"Mental Health event with school aged children, reading the story of “Gizmo” -I believe that providing mental health education/awareness at an early age can help children grow with the skills needed to care for their own mental health. "

What is a fun fact about you?
"I have worked (and still do) in the field of substance use disorder for 40 years! "

Thank you Sue for all that you do!

America's hardworking construction professionals are vital to our nation's future. Tragically, about five times as many construction workers lose their lives to su***de compared to the general population — one of the highest su***de rates among all professions in the U.S. The Construction Hike for Hope is an event meant to engage the construction industry on the importance of mental health and su***de prevention. Viewing mental health as integral to overall safety encourages its inclusion in safety protocols and practices, emphasizing that mental well-being directly impacts job performance and productivity. We want to see mental health become as much a priority as physical safety in the construction industry.

Join AFSP New Hampshire's First Construction Hike for Hope on June 6 at Derryfield Park in Manchester. Interested in becoming a Sponsor? Please contact Executive Director Shamera Simpson at [email protected].
