Exeter Area Community Foundation Fund

Exeter Area Community Foundation Fund Creating a culture of giving, by caring people, who will invest their time, talent and resources for the betterment of the community-now and in the future.

The goal of the Exeter Area Community Foundation Fund (the Fund) is to work with Exeter-area residents to wisely invest time, talent and resources in projects that enhance our community both now and in the future. The Fund’s first big break came in the form of the $50,000 Richard and Louisa Manning Challenge grant. Their generosity, combined with that of members of the community (both past and pre

sent) led to the creation of the Fund’s unrestricted community endowment. The Fund’s endowment account is the foundation from which future success is achieved. Every dollar invested into the endowment account grows the principal balance, which is never spent. Rather the investment gains from this principal balance create a sustainable revenue stream from which grants are awarded.

The mailboxes serve as a physical reminder that our town will always have a place for them and to invite them to eventually “come home” to become vital members of our community and chose Exeter as a place to plant their roots. Young people are vital to the future success of our town!

Just a couple of generations ago, luggage was a common graduation gift for high school seniors in Greater Nebraska. The implied message: congratulations, you made it; now get out of this town and find somewhere to actually build a life. It was an invitation of sorts. An invitation to leave. Times ha...
