Rockingham Choral Society

Rockingham Choral Society Rockingham Choral Society is dedicated to performing quality choral music to the highest possible sta Johnson, Chair of Music at Philips Exeter Academy.

Singers come from all walks of life to enjoy the spirit of singing and sharing their gifts with others. Vocal soloists are chosen from the membership, and only the finest orchestral players are hired from New Hampshire and Maine. The Choral Society currently performs two major concerts per year. The Christmas concert is held in December, and the second concert is held in the spring. Each concert

consists of a Saturday evening and a Sunday evening performance. The Society rehearses for concerts at the Exeter High School on Tuesday evenings starting in September each year thanks to the support of the Exeter School District and is conducted by Kristofer T. For its members, the Society provides a unique opportunity to participate in an educational, cultural and social experience based on their shared love of music. Significant benefits of the experience include: the study and performance of music of a wide variety of periods and styles; the improvement of the individual’s singing technique and the opportunity to perform as a soloist; and the fellowship that comes from creating music with others. For its audiences in the Seacoast communities, the Society provides educational and enjoyable experiences of the highest musical quality. Its concerts, which feature local singers, soloists and instrumentalists, are examples of the significant contribution that the performing arts make to life in New Hampshire.

Congratulations to Tessa Tenasco, the 2025 recipient of Rockingham Choral Society's $1,000 Dr. Henry Wing Memorial Music Scholarship!

The award was presented to Tessa on July 1, 2025, at Christ’s Church in Exeter, NH.

Tenasco plans to attend the University of Hartford in the fall to pursue a Bachelor of Music with a focus on vocal performance.

“When I was little, I had always dreamed of working within the music industry to become a professional singer,” said Tenasco. “For me, music began as a hobby. From there, it became a passion in my life, something that I engage in on a daily basis. That passion then grew to become a major career goal in my life,” said Tessa.

“The selection committee was impressed by Tessa’s depth of experience both as a vocalist and a musician,” said Charlie Smith, RCS President. “The society is proud to be able to support Tessa’s ambitions to pursue music in her post-secondary education.”

This scholarship was made possible in part through the generous support of The Brook Casino in Seabrook, NH. More information about the Rockingham Choral Society can be found at www.rockinghamchoral.org
