Hi Guildies. This will be my last post as I am moving out of state. The guild really needs your help! They have an immediate need to fill the Treasurer roll and for someone to take over the management of the page and Instagram.

These are truly not difficult rolls and do not require a huge time commitment.

Please consider volunteering. I have enjoyed my time with the guild and these roles immensely and I think you would too.

We are very excited to welcome Michelle Banton from Little Pup Designs (https://www.littlepupdesigns.com/) as the
speaker at our upcoming September meeting. Michelle will be presenting her lecture entitled “Looking Great, Dresden Plate”

Did you know that the Dresden Plate block pattern is 100
years old? She looks pretty good for a mature woman. In this
presentation, I go over the history of Dresdens and other
patterns that became popular about the same time. Even back
then, there was controversy in the quilting world on a national
level. We will see how things have changed and how they are
still very similar. The lecture will start at 6:30 pm, followed
by refreshments and a brief business meeting. Doors will
open at 6:00 pm. Make sure you invite all of your friends and
get there early for a good seat.

OK – What Do I Do NOW?

Ever hit a wall on your quilting project? Wonder how to fix something that is not quite right? Want other quilter's opinion on where to go next?
Let's help get those questions answered!

This month's program will encourage us all to share our assorted quilting knowledge and experience.

Please bring in some quilt-y thing that is giving you a hard time. Antique quilt that needs repair? UFO that just won't go together smoothly? Quilt that needs a special design but you can't quite see it? Need a color pop in a dull-looking project?

You will have a chance to present your problem and get feedback. You will be limited to a short (10 minute) discussion and if you need more time, we will arrange connections with the in-house experts before moving on to the next issue. If time permits, we can break into groups for future discussion.

This is like a show-and-tell with our problem pieces. Be prepared to join in – you don't really know how valuable your expertise can be. We should all leave feeling great – some will have a problem solved and others will learn how much they really do know. All of us will be able to appreciate how much combined talent we share.

To help things run smoother, please contact Mary Sousa ([email protected]) with a brief description of your problem. This will ensure that you have a chance to present. Without notice, it will be first come, first serve – but bring your issue along anyway.

JULY 13th MEETING

POTLUCK PICNIC AT THE EXETER SENIOR CENTER

The July meeting will be our annual Potluck Picnic. Because of covid and concerns of members, we are changing things this year. We will start at 6:30 pm. The doors will be unlocked at 6:15 pm. We will start with our “picnic”. Everyone should bring their own individual dinner (something simple, such as a sandwich, and not to be shared with others). The guild will provide pre-packaged chips, drinks and desserts. Although masks are not required by the Town of Exeter, we would ask that anyone who has not been fully vaccinated please wear a mask for the safety of others.

After the picnic, we will have a business meeting to discuss upcoming events, hopefully review and pass the budget for 2021-2022 and have Show & Tell. We will be drawing for door prizes and selling tickets for Mary’s Grab Bag.

As it has been a while, here is a list of things to bring to the meeting:

Your dinner
Place setting (plate, silverware, placemat)
Lots of $1 bills for Mary’s Grab Bag
YOUR NAME TAG
Baby Quilts to donate to the Comfort Committee
Building Blocks that you have completed
Food Donations for the Food Pantry
SHOW & TELL
