🥵 Heat Safety Alert—It'll be dangerously hot today, thanks to "corn sweat" (a real thing! https://abcnews.go.com/US/corn-sweats-exacerbate-heat-waves/story?id=124032829 )
On a job site? Work Safe:
• When possible, wear loose fitting, light colored clothing;
• Wear sunscreen: sunburn can inhibit the body's natural cooling mechanism;
• Stay hydrated: drink 8oz of water every 15 min while working. And keep drinking water before/after work to keep hydrating;
• Avoid caffeine, soda & alcohol: they can speed dehydration and contribute to heat cramps;
• Use personal cooling items: utilize cold packs/compresses and cooling headbands;
• Find shade: If you're on lunch or on break, find shade whenever possible; and
• Use the buddy system: keep an eye on your brothers & sisters. If they begin to exhibit signs of heat illnesses (extreme headaches; excessive sweating; nausea or vomiting), be sure to take immediate action to cool them and alert a supervisor.
