The formation of a “Green Team” is the first step in establishing a community sustainability program. The Green Teams leverage the skills and expertise of team members to develop plans, implement programs, and assist with educational opportunities that support the creation of a sustainable community. The role is to lead and coordinate the sustainability activities of the community. Our team create

programs under the direction of The Sustainable Jersey; a certification program for municipalities in New Jersey that want to GO GREEN, save money, and take steps to sustain their quality of life that will endure over time. Sustainable Jersey:

Our 250 Tree Campaign in action. Planting a Black tupelo (AKA Black gum and Botanical name - Nyssa sylvatica) from Bountiful Gardens. Our gardener shared: "Made sure the hole wasn't too deep and didn't volcano mulch it! :)" This is a gorgeous tree with beautiful fall color (see photo of mature specimen) that likes moist soil and enjoys full sun to partial sunlight. Because of our ongoing drought conditions be sure to keep all of your 250 trees well-watered for the first two years until well established. We'd love to see some photos from some of our other tree planters...

Join us in celebrating Arbor Day 2026 either at Watson Park for our ceremonial tree planting at 9 am or plant a tree in your yard in solidarity. Be sure to fill out our Pledge to Plant form (linked in the article below) so we can keep track of the number of trees being planted this year in hopes of reaching our 250 Tree Campaign goal.

Sign the petition asking Governor Sherrill to enact a three-year moratorium on new large-scale data centers in New Jersey so the state can evaluate risks, set clear standards, and ensure communities have a voice and help protect our water, energy system, and environment.
