Today, our volunteers and community partners came together to harvest and distribute fresh bananas grown at the AMVETS Warriors ʻOhana Garden. This program is more than gardening—it is about serving veterans, military families, and our community through sustainable agriculture, healthy living, and shared stewardship of the land.

🇺🇸 PTSD AWARENESS MONTH 🇺🇸

YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

This month, we recognize the strength and resilience of veterans, service members, and all individuals affected by Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Raising awareness helps break the stigma surrounding mental health and encourages those who are struggling to seek support and healing.

Honor the courage. Support the healing. Build a stronger tomorrow.

At AMVETS Hawaii, we remain committed to supporting veterans and their families through advocacy, health and wellness programs, peer support, community engagement, and resources that promote recovery and hope.

Bees are responsible for pollinating a huge part of the food and flowers we enjoy every day. Without them, nature would struggle to survive. Protect bees, plant more flowers, and spread awareness — because saving bees means protecting life on Earth. 🌍💛

Monthly Legislative & VA Affairs Update – May 2026 🇺🇸

This month, national attention remains focused on the future of Veterans healthcare, su***de prevention, community care, and VA modernization as Congress reviewed the Department of Veterans Affairs Fiscal Year 2027 Budget Request.

Key issues discussed during the Senate Appropriations hearing included:

🔹 Expanded funding for Veteran community care
🔹 Continued modernization of VA electronic health records (EHR)
🔹 Increased investment in mental health and su***de prevention
🔹 Staffing concerns across the VA system
🔹 Accountability and oversight of VA resources and services

AMVETS Hawaii continues to monitor legislation, policy developments, and VA initiatives impacting Veterans, service members, military families, and survivors throughout Hawaii and the Pacific.

Mother’s Day reminds us of the profound mystery of the Incarnation. When Jesus entered the world, God did not come through military power, political conquest, or public spectacle. The Creator of the universe chose to enter human history through a mother.

Mary carried in her womb the One whom Scripture declares created all things and holds all things together (Colossians 1:16–17). The child born in Bethlehem was not merely another infant — He was the eternal Son of God stepping into the very creation He spoke into existence.

That is what makes the birth of Christ so significant for all humanity. Bethlehem was a real place in history, but the meaning of that holy night reaches far beyond one town in Judea. The Light of the World entered a darkened world. The Author of creation stepped into His own story to redeem it.

In God’s perfect wisdom, a mother stood at the center of that moment.

Mary’s example reminds us that motherhood carries deep dignity and eternal significance. Through her humility, faith, obedience, and willingness to say “yes” to God, the Savior entered the world. God chose the love, nurture, sacrifice, and strength of a mother as part of His redemptive plan for humanity.

Today we honor mothers not only for raising children, but because motherhood reflects something sacred about the heart of God: selfless love, faithful endurance, gentle strength, and a life poured out in service to others.

Happy Mother’s Day to every mother, grandmother, spiritual mother, and every woman who faithfully loves and serves others. Your influence reaches farther than you know.
