📣 Big news for Hawaiʻi homeschoolers! 📣

🤖 Six elementary-age homeschool students from Windward “Awesomenecks” team have earned an invitation to compete at the FIRST LEGO League World Championship in Houston, Texas (April 29–May 2).

🏆 After receiving the Future Innovators Award at the 2026 Hawaii FIRST Robotics Explore Festival, the team was selected from 15 teams across the state to represent Hawaiʻi — becoming the ☝️first ☝️Longnecks team ever to advance to the FIRST World Championship.

This milestone highlights the growing presence of homeschool students in collaborative team activities and STEM innovation.

🌎 The World Championship brings together ~50,000 participants from more than 60 countries, and these young engineers are preparing to represent Hawaiʻi and the homeschool community on the global stage.

💪Community support will help cover travel, lodging, and registration so every student can attend.

Notes from the Bishop coordinator:
- TREX is a planetarium show "chronicling the true story of three boys’ discovery of a juvenile Tyrannosaurus rex fossil and exploring the life and times of this iconic carnivorous dinosaur."
- The private tour will be with one of our educators who can talk to the students about museum practices and they can ask any archeological questions they may have.
- Then you'll have the remainder of your time to explore the exhibits and look at objects - Hawaiian Hall focuses on the history of Hawai'i, Castle Hall features Expedition Dinosaur, and the Science Adventure Center displays more of our plants and animal collections.
- The price will be about $11 per person, unfortunately museum membership doesn't apply because it's a customized experience.

Big thanks to the students who came out to represent at the island wide 2025 FLL Season Kickoff. Great to hear about Hawaiian archaeology and meet other teams.
