Hale Kipa has served more than 71,000 youth throughout Hawaii since its beginning in 1970 as a single shelter on Oahu. This includes working in partnership with public agencies and private organizations to provide residential, outreach, and foster care services at no cost. With programs that are flexible and responsive to changing needs, Hale Kipa supports youth involved in juvenile justice, behavioral health, education and child welfare. Program goals include stabilizing young people in crisis and helping youth and families build resiliency to experience success in their lives.

Keone and Brooke proudly represented Hale Kipa's Safe Place and PIKO programs at the Youth Summit 2026 on Tuesday!

⚠️Safe Place offers immediate help and safety for youth in crisis through Hale Kipa’s locations across Hawai‘i. As part of a national network of more than 22,000 Safe Place sites, youth can access support when and where they need it most.

Services include:
Youth ages 17 and under
24/7 access to safe locations
Immediate crisis support

🌀PIKO provides street outreach, drop-in services, and case management for unsheltered youth and young adults up to age 24. The program connects young people with resources and support to help build safety, stability, and brighter futures.

Services include:
Meals, showers, clothing & laundry
Case management & counseling referrals
Education & employment support
Safety workshops & life skills training

Hale Kipa extends its sincere mahalo to Plus Power for its generous contribution in support of our mission to serve Hawaiʻi's youth, young adults, and families.

Their investment helps us continue providing safe shelter, education, and essential services while strengthening the communities we serve across Hawaiʻi.

Plus Power's Kapolei Energy Storage facility is helping power a more sustainable future by strengthening Oʻahu's electric grid, storing renewable energy, and supporting Hawaiʻi's goal of achieving 100% renewable electricity by 2045. It was one of several projects procured to replace the capacity of Hawaii’s last coal plant, helping to prevent an estimated 1.5 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year.

🌊 Our Kaʻi Like Program (KLP) continues to provide youth on Hawaiʻi Island with opportunities to connect with culture through waʻa paddling alongside ʻOhana Lau Lima Hālau.

From learning to paddle to giving back through service, youth practice teamwork, responsibility, and mālama for one another and the ʻāina. These experiences strengthen their connection to the traditions and values of our kūpuna.

Mahalo KLP and ʻOhana Lau Lima Hālau for sharing the ʻike and aloha of waʻa with our youth! 🤙🏽
