🎣 Evergreen Trout Unlimited in the News!

We’re proud to share that CBS News featured our chapter’s recent outreach at the Mt. Blue Sky Outdoor Lab!

ETU members Keith Festag, Gregg Squire, and Bryan Petti led a fly-tying class for Jefferson County 6th graders as part of their outdoor education program — a great example of our members’ dedication to youth engagement, conservation, and the future of fly fishing.

Huge thanks to everyone who volunteers their time and energy to support environmental education and inspire the next generation of anglers!

Jeffco Outdoor Labs is a program that has been a part of the Jefferson County school district since 1957, when it was turned into something of a wilderness camp for students.

UPDATE: STREAM CLEANUP CANCELLED 🚨

Out of an abundance of caution and concern for logistics (especially the zero parking situation near the stream today), we are rescheduling today's 1:00 PM stream cleanup.

We apologize for any inconvenience! The current protest/event crowds would make it incredibly difficult to safely access the area and achieve the impact we want.

We will send out an update with the new date early next week! Keep an eye on your email/this page.

We’re excited to share something groundbreaking in trout conservation — TroutSpotter — a new AI-powered platform developed by Wildbook, Conservation X Labs, and Trout Unlimited!

TroutSpotter uses artificial intelligence to identify individual trout from photos, helping researchers, anglers, and conservationists monitor trout populations, migration patterns, and habitat health over time.

Here’s how you can get involved:
📸 Upload your trout photos to report an encounter.
🌍 Contribute to real science by helping track trout across watersheds.
💧 Support TU’s mission of protecting and restoring coldwater fisheries — with every photo you share.

In the past month alone, volunteers and scientists have identified over 6,000 trout from more than 11,000 photos — and the community keeps growing!

🔬 Note: TroutSpotter is currently in beta, and the site will continue to evolve. You can also submit your photos directly through the OnWater app to help train and improve the AI — strengthening the data behind this innovative tool.
