Reid State's Ryan Coleman and Juliette Adams represented the college at a special open house hosted by the Megan Montgomery Foundation on Tuesday, July 28, at Vulcan Park and Museum in Birmingham.

Coleman, facilitator of Reid State's Breaking Free Initiative, shared an update with foundation supporters on the program's impact during the past year. She reported that the initiative has made more than 400 contacts with local high school students, Reid State students, and community members through educational outreach and events, including the Breaking Free 5K Color Run.

The Reid State Foundation will apply for continued funding for the 2026-27 academic year and hopes to expand the Breaking Free Initiative to reach even more young people with education and resources that promote healthy, positive relationships.

Thank you to Meredith Montgomery and the Montgomery-Clarke family for welcoming us and giving us the opportunity to share the story of the Breaking Free Initiative and the impact it is making throughout our region.

As our nation celebrates 250 years of independence, we honor the ideals of freedom, opportunity, and service that continue to shape our communities and inspire future generations.

The Reid State Foundation is proud to support students as they pursue their educational goals and prepare to make a lasting impact throughout Alabama and beyond.

Please note: The Reid State Foundation office will be closed Friday, July 3, 2026, in observance of the Independence Day holiday. We will resume normal business hours on Monday, July 6.

We wish everyone a safe, joyful, and meaningful Fourth of July as we celebrate America's 250th Anniversary.
