This week, we closed out two Digital Equity training sessions, working side-by-side with community members to build confidence with their laptops and learn simple ways to stay safe online.

We’re so grateful to Tlingit & Haida WA Chapter for leading this digital equity effort, and for inviting Future Ancestors Alliance to partner in bringing hands-on support and training to the community. Ja Háw'aa, Gunalchéesh, and N'doyackshn to our helpers and youth that helped prepare and throughout our sessions.

Together, we built skills that help our community feel more confident using laptops and staying safer online — from setting up accounts with multi-factor authentication and stronger passwords, to spotting scams and understanding how AI-generated fakes (photos, videos, and voices) are becoming part of our digital world.

Here’s a quick look at what we covered:

Getting started with new laptops + updates

Multi-factor authentication & account safety

Password managers + secure logins

Scam awareness + AI deepfake detection

Safer browsing, cookies & tracking awareness

Want to join us for upcoming virtual or hybrid sessions? We’ll be sharing more workshops soon on online safety, AI scams, and youth app-building.

Join by signing up on our website and be on the lookup for upcoming training sessions.

Empowering Indigenous young adults with relevant education and opportunities in STEM is not just an investment in individuals, but an investment in our communities.

We are excited to continue our partnership with Codefy for our 2026 Spring Cohort, helping shareholders jumpstart their careers in the tech industry!

Codefy is a fully remote, 12-week software development training program where students gain a strong foundation in programming at no cost. The Codefy curriculum includes Java, responsive web design, Agile, Scrum, SQL and more. Students also earn a stipend of $15 an hour and, upon successful completion of the training, are placed in a technology internship.

Space is limited, so applicants ages 18-29 are prioritized, but shareholders of all ages are allowed to apply! Applications will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Contact [email protected] with any questions. For more information, and to apply, visit: https://bit.ly/3vEtrgg

The application is open now through December 21, 2025.

We could not be happier to offer this workshop to our community, and we hope that this event will help plant seeds within our youth's minds to continue learning and speaking the languages of our ancestors. If you have ever wanted to begin learning one of our languages, now is the time.

It is time we take matters into our own hands by learning, speaking, and revitalizing our Indigenous languages. Haa too yei yatee (it is within us).

We hope to see you there! If you have any questions, please contact Elizah Dominy at [email protected].

The Goldbelt Heritage Foundation Language Summit is almost here — a gathering of knowledge keepers, teachers, linguists, and community leaders who have carried our languages through generations.

Their dedication has kept our words alive, even in the face of great challenges. This summit is a chance to honor that work, learn from one another, and share what’s next for our languages — not only in classrooms and communities, but in the digital world as well.

This is more than technology — it’s a journey of healing, kindness, leadership, and governance, filled with the excitement of what’s just around the corner for our languages and our people.

Our ancestors carried these voices forward to us. Now it’s our turn to carry them into the future.
