📢 Big news for Snohomish County's Economy and Workforce!

Sound Transit is bringing light rail north from Lynnwood City Center all the way to Everett. That means new commute options, more connections between workers and jobs, and construction and operations work right here at home.

🌟 Why it matters for our workforce

Transit projects like this shape where businesses locate, how people get to work, and what kind of talent pipeline we can build in our community:
✅ New training pipelines for construction trades during the build
✅ Long-term jobs in transit operations and maintenance
✅ Growth around new stations that brings more employers into reach

🌟 Your input matters

Sound Transit is deciding where stations and the maintenance facility will go, and those decisions will shape which neighborhoods see the economic benefit. The Draft Environmental Impact Statement is open for public comment through November 2. Submit a comment on the EIS or attend a public meeting to learn more and make your voice heard.

This October, we're Celebrating Value and Talent in recognition of National Disability Employment Awareness Month!

The field trip that inspired you. The teacher who encouraged you. The local boards and leaders who helped shape career pathways. The boss who then hired you. The ongoing growth and success. The worksite tour you later gave to a field trip of inspired young people = workforce development.

Within each of our 12 local workforce development areas across Washington, millions of people are dedicating their lives to helping others find and secure sustainable employment and build successful, thriving communities. “Workforce development” might not be a phrase we all use every day, but workforce development is what many of us actually do every day. If you have a job or are enrolled in school, if you help people get connected to resources or run a business of your own, guess what? You’re in workforce development too!

Shout out to all 12 of our hardworking and dedicated local workforce boards and their teams. Washington State is an incredible place to live and work because of how you help grow and shape our workforce. Thank you for all you do.
