Two photos. Nearly 20 years apart. Same friendship.
The first photo is from YLVS camp circa 2008. The second is from Pancakes & Pajamas this past December. Meet Braelynn and Kendra.
Many of you know our Coordinator, Braelynn, was a teen mom herself and experienced YoungLives when she needed it most. Now meet Kendra, also a teen mom and YLVS alum from that same season of life. Their girls are now 18 and 20.
Through YoungLives, these two young moms found a lot of things, but one of the most meaningful was community. They connected with other teen moms who got it, and in the middle of that season, a lifelong friendship was born.
They were once single moms who became roommates, raising their girls side by side. Nearly 20 years later, they’re still each other’s emergency contacts—or as they say, each other’s “no matter what” friend.
This December, Kendra showed up again,this time as a volunteer at Pancakes & Pajamas: serving, laughing, and loving the next generation of young moms. Full-circle moments like this remind us why YoungLives matters. 💛

Six years ago, she walked into YoungLives as a very young mom.
She was met by a mentor who showed up, stayed, and loved her well.
Today, they’re family. 💛
She’s now married, raising an amazing 6-year-old, and has welcomed her second child with her husband—while stepping into leadership herself to walk alongside other young moms.
This is what long-term mentorship looks like.
We don’t just walk with young moms—we watch them grow, thrive, and become the leaders they were always meant to be.
This is YoungLives.
