Everett Garden Club is a community organization which is open to all, regardless of gender, ethnicity or creed. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month at the Evergreen Branch of the Everett Public Library. Social time begins at 10 a.m, business meeting starts at 10:30 a.m. We are a Non-federated garden club which promotes civic beautification, the sharing of horticultural knowledge,
and support (through grants) of area schools with working/teaching gardens. We also practice horticultural out reach and good will, all the while enjoying a social atmosphere with our members. Everett Garden Club was founded in 1938. The first president was Mrs. Rufus Bishop. Through the years the club has been an integral component in the makeup of Everett's cultural fabric. In 1963 The Everett Garden Club sought permission to develop an Arboretum in Snohomish County. The Everett Park Board gave its approval for an 8 acre site near Legion Golf Course and the Evergreen Area Arboretum of Snohomish County became a reality. This lead to the formation of the Arboretum Society. The Everett Garden Club continues to flourish today, acting as a supporter of the art and science of horticulture through its programs and grants. The Club flower is the Chrysanthemum. The Club bird is the Evening Grosbeak.
