Everett! Here's a chance to have your say and impact how SR-529 (Boeing Freeway) is upgraded to include safe non-motorized transportation option. Please speak up.
WSDOT is currently planning major changes to SR-526 (Boeing Freeway), primarily to mitigate Boeing commute traffic. SR-526 is the major barrier to safe non-motorized transportation options between Everett's neighborhoods in the N/S directions. Within Everett there are exactly 5 places to cross SR-526, and from west to east they are Hardeson Rd, pedestrian overpass, Evergreen Way, East Casino, and SE Everett Mall Way. Of these, only Hardeson has a bike lane and three out of the five are completely inadequate for one reason or another.
The budget for this project is greater than $47 million
WSDOT will have a table at the Westmont-Holly National Night Out celebration on Tuesday, August 6th to share information on this project. If you'd like to provide input on this and advocate for safe, efficient, and accessible pedestrian and bike infrastructure in Everett, this will be your chance. You may assume that nobody else is advocating for this, so if you care about it you need to pipe up.
