Youth Re-Engagement Program at Everett Community College

Youth Re-Engagement Program at Everett Community College We provide an opportunity for youth ages 16-21 who don't have a high school diploma, to attend EvCC FREE COLLEGE.... YES FREE COLLEGE! We would love to help!

Thank you for your patience during our transition period. We have been working as hard as we can to redesign Youth Re-Engagement so that we can continue serving students! The Youth Re-Engagement Program (U3) is now a Washington State Open Doors Program, in partnership with Everett Community College, Sea Mar Community Health Centers, and several local school districts. We are currently able to acce

pt applicants who reside in the Darrington, Lake Stevens, Lakewood and Marysville school districts. We hope to be able to offer our services to even more students in the very near future. Youth Re-Engagement provides an alternative for students who are not finding success or satisfaction at, or who have already left, the traditional high school environment. We view our program as an opportunity for youth to learn, explore, and challenge themselves, to believe in themselves, and to re-engage in education. We want to enable our future workforce to become successful in an educational setting, to learn the importance of and understand the relationship between education and the world of work. Education is the key to their future. Youth Re-Engagement is a dual-credit program which enables youth to work toward the educational goal of their choice, or even multiple goals. Options include:

• a GED
• a high school diploma
• an Associate degree
• a technical or vocational certificate

Students are eligible for Youth Re-Engagement if they:

• Do not currently have a high school diploma (GEDs are OK)
• Reside within one of our partnering school districts
• Are at least 16 and not yet 21 on or before Sept. 1
• Are significantly credit deficient or have a counselor recommendation stating that they are unlikely to graduate from a traditional or alternative high school by the age of 21

Becoming a U3 student starts with an information meeting, an orientation, and an interview. Please call our office to sign up for an information meeting. If you live in a school district that we do not yet partner with, we will still happily take your information, and give you a call when we are able to start serving students in your district. We are also happy to answer any questions, or just chat with you about the Youth Re-Engagement Program, what we do, and the direction we are going in. Reach out anytime by calling 425-259-8738.

The Youth Re-Engagement Program is currently at full capacity and has temporarily stopped accepting new student applications. Interested students are invited to attend one of our information sessions to learn about the program and determine whether it is a good fit for them personally. We will resume accepting applications when capacity allows, and at that time all students who have attended an info session will be contacted with an invitation to apply.

Upcoming In-Person Information Sessions

We are a Washington State Open Doors program, designed to help disengaged or credit-deficient high school students re-engage in their education, located at Everett Community College. We provide an alternative for students who are not finding success or satisfaction at, or who have already left, the traditional high school environment. We view our program as an opportunity for youth to learn, explore, and challenge themselves, to believe in themselves, and to re-engage in education. We want to enable our future workforce to become successful in an educational setting, to learn the importance of and understand the relationship between education and the world of work. Education is the key to their future.

EvCC offers Youth Re-Engagement in partnership with local school districts and Sea Mar Community Health Centers. The program is based on a model of other successful programs in the nation. Youth who enter the program receive the support of a case manager to help them navigate through college and become a successful college student.

We are currently able to serve students who reside in all Snohomish County school districts, as well as some districts in King and Skagit counties. Call 425-259-8738 to see if your district is one that we partner with!

EvCC will test our emergency alert system at 10:17am on October 17 (same time as the Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drill).

You will receive a test message via email, via text (for those who have signed up for text alerts), and see test messages on EvCC's website and social media. The message will say that this is a test of EvCC's emergency alert system.

Not signed up for text message alerts? Visit EverettCC.edu/Emergency for directions. Available for EvCC students, faculty and staff as well as parents, WSU-Everett and community members.

If you are at an EvCC location, we will also be testing the InformaCast Broadcasting system and you may hear audio alerts and beeps and see desktop phone text scrolling notifications.
