We’d like to share that FIRST Legal Clinic is entering a planned leadership transition.

Our current Executive Director will continue in their role throughout the search for our next Executive Director and will support a smooth onboarding once a new leader is selected. Our Board of Directors is leading a structured and well-governed process to ensure continuity and organizational strength.

Our programs, services, and partnerships will continue as usual, and there will be no disruption to the work we do together. We remain fully committed to maintaining strong relationships and clear communication throughout this transition.

Founded in 2019, FIRST Legal Clinic is a mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to keeping families together and preventing unnecessary involvement with the child welfare system. With more than 1,600 families served and a 79% success rate in preventing child removals, FIRST is a leader in this work across Washington State and a model nationally.

We are now seeking an Executive Director to steward FIRST through its next chapter of growth, leading strategy, operations, partnerships, and sustainability in close collaboration with our Board and team of attorneys, parent allies, and staff with lived experience.

This week FIRST Legal Clinic partnered with local EMTs from South County Snohomish Fire to host an infant and child CPR/first aid class!

Parents - expecting, new, and experienced - came together to learn lifesaving skills. Special thanks to our parent allies that supported the training and Harm Reduction Doula Collective, Carra, for staying after to answer questions.

Every parent left feeling empowered and more confident to keep their little ones safe.

We are so proud of the families who joined us and so grateful to everyone that made this possible. Huge thank you to CTC Recovery Services and Mike Kersey for allowing us to use your space and to Sound Pathways for the donation of the harm reduction supplies. We love our community partners!

🐯🦁🐻🐵2nd Annual FIRST Clinic Zoo Day! 🐯🦁🐻🐵

We had such a wonderful time at the zoo with our past and present clients and their children and families! Watching the kids laugh, play, and grow together was a beautiful reminder of why we do this work — keeping families strong, connected, and supported.

We are excited to announce that FIRST Legal Clinic was has been honored with the "Lee Ann Miller Award" at this year's Children Justice Conference. This award recognizes our unwavering commitment and contributions to advancing justice for children and families in our community.

A heartfelt thank you to the 2024 Children Justice Task Force members for this recognition. We are incredibly grateful and it only strengthens our resolve to continue fighting for the rights and well-being of every family we serve.
