It is an honor to celebrate Shannon today as the recipient of the Outstanding Employment Professional Award.
Shannon was nominated because she sees possibilities in people that others may overlook, and she puts in the work to turn those possibilities into opportunities.
In 2025, Shannon developed four jobs for individuals we support. But her impact goes far beyond that number. She takes the time to understand each person’s strengths, interests, and support needs, and she works closely with employers to create meaningful opportunities.
Some of those opportunities included positions at Snohomish Valley Golf Center and Alpine View Veterinary Hospital in Monroe. I also want to congratulate Alpine View Veterinary Hospital on receiving the Outstanding Small Employer Award today. Thank you for your partnership and for recognizing the value that the individuals we support bring to the workplace.
One story, in particular, captures Shannon’s impact. She found a job for someone who had been unemployed for years and was beginning to believe that no one would give them a chance.
Shannon refused to give up. She helped create a position that had never existed before. In doing so, she gave this person more than a job—it gave them hope, dignity, purpose, and something to look forward to each week.
That is who Shannon is. She sees people. She believes in them. And she helps open doors that can change their lives.
Shannon, thank you for your persistence, compassion, and belief in the people we support. We are proud to work alongside you, and we are so pleased to celebrate this well-deserved recognition with you.
Congratulations, Shannon!
