Friends of Everest Community Park and Prairie Gardens Friends of Everest Park & Prairie Gardens is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to beautify the park and establish an Honor & Prairie Gardens.

Thanks for being a friend of our park. People need friends. Parks also need friends. Please "chime in" with your ideas about how we can make our park a vital part of the Everest Community. A lot has been accomplished in the Park over the past couple of years but there is much yet to be done. As we launch this new page, we will be making posts to spark conversations within the "Greater Eve

rest Community" in these general areas:

History of the Everest Community and the Park - share your family stories. Recent activities of "Friends of the Everest Community Park and Prairie Gardens"

Future plans for adding the Honor Garden and Prairie Gardens - will include photos of designs and sample garden displays from other locations. Also, we welcome new topics of interest from anyone who is a "Friend of Everest".

Hi Everyone- I wanted to give an update and see if anyone would like to work a bit in the park on Saturday at 9 AM.

If anyone is interested in helping with raking and bagging the grass - we think that would look nicer for the upcoming holiday.

Urban Lawncare has mulched, and planted some flowers and bushes that are easier to maintain. These are 1) new butterfly bushes in the north east corner that will now become Bridgetโ€™ butterfly garden. 2) new and smaller prairie flower and bushes around the big rock for the Hutchison family. These areas had become difficult to maintain and so to preserve their beauty, we downsized and added ways to prevent weeds.

Our goal is to make it as easy to maintain as possible which includes,
1) removing the large plastic border around the playground so that the city can mow the playground area.
2) Shorten all of the dedication plaques so that they are more consistent and closer to the ground.
3) I plan to look into grants for a new fence. The city let me know that the railroad might have one.

Mark and I (Jackie) will be working on Saturday, May 9th at 9 AM for all who would like to join. Thank you!

Please leave a comment or message me on Facebook if you plan the come.

Thank you to all who helped this morning in the park! I found it fun and fulfilling to see our progress. Itโ€™s so nice to work alongside our Everest neighbors on a project together and a great way to get some exercise in. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

We cut down two overgrown flower gardens with the intention to start over with new growth next year. Next spring, we hope to contain the flower gardens into smaller areas with borders so it is easier to maintain.

We are planning to work again next Saturday at 8AM. (1 hour work & 20-30 mins for pick up).

Come join us! We would love to have you!

Hi Everyone,
Jackie Petersen here. The Everest Park could use some TLC. I told some of the Everest alumni that I would help but Iโ€™m better with words and numbers than plants. (Just ask my husband Mark!)
So, Iโ€™m asking for help.

Would anyone like to join me as a local group to meet every quarter to help determine its ongoing needs and set up a few early morning Spring & Summer Saturdays for weeding?

Please private message me at Jackie Petersen or respond here and I will DM you.

Anyone willing to help in any way would be much appreciated.
Thank you!
Jackie
