The presentation by Texas Parks and Wildlife biologists Patrick Kostecka and Kirby Irvin will be followed by guided buggy pasture tour and discussion of specific plants and their impact on wildlife.

May 11, 2023 from 9:00am to 12:00pm.
Meet at the barn of David Freeman at 120 County Rd 157; Evant, TX.
Directions: On FM 183 west of Pearl, turn north in Beehouse onto County Road 157. David’s barn is ¼ mile south of the T-intersection of CR 157 into County Road 158. If you need navigation help, call David at 254 223 8728.

The meeting is free of charge. VMWMA members, and interested members of the public are encouraged to attend.

There has been increased interest among some of our members about long term availability of water in the aquifer (Trinity) under the properties of VMWMA. Below is a link to a publication by the Texas Water Development Board that does as good a job as I have seen of describing the situation in adequate detail.

My opinion is that everyone in Austin realizes that our current system for allocating groundwater is unsustainable. The "right of capture" principal is so controversial that the legislature is unlikely to make significant changes until forced to do so by a serious crisis.

The mission of the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) is to lead the state's efforts in ensuring a secure water future for Texas and its citizens. Vista Mountain Wildlife Management Association [VMWMA] is a non-profit organization of private citizens in Central Texas who have voluntarily joined together to manage their properties for the benefit of wildlife. Wildlife Management Associations [WMAs] are operated by the Wildlife Division of Texas Parks and Wildlife.

Our group is divided into two sections:
North VMWMA – for areas north of U.S. Hwy 84
South VMWMA – for areas south of U.S. Hwy 84
