We asked some of the staff at The Excel Center Evansville Southeast what some of their weekly wins were from last week, big or small. Here's what they shared:
๐Ÿ’š Lindsey (Life Coach) shared, "I've completed 27 out of 61 of my one-on-ones with students so far this term, which started May 4th."
๐Ÿ’š Nancy (Student Recruiter) shared, "Graduation was Friday! It was amazing getting to see all the accomplishments of the graduates and how they've grown from the time they started at The Excel Center to now that they're graduating. We also attended a community event in Newburgh on Saturday and had over 100 people stop by our table to learn more about our programs!"
๐Ÿ’š Ebony (College & Career Readiness Specialist) shared, "A few of my students have already passed their final exams to get their certifications early! It's a great accomplishment, especially for students who have test anxiety."
๐Ÿ’š Courtney (Lead Life Coach) shared, "New students started last Monday for B-Term, which is an introductory class for The Excel Center that goes on for the last 4 weeks of the term and grants them an elective! I also got to see a picture of one of my students' cats."
๐Ÿ’š Devon (Life Coach) shared, "A student who started classes here at The Excel Centerยฎ Evansville Southeast when we first opened in August 2024 moved and transferred to a different Excel Center in December 2025. Last week, she reached out and invited me to her graduation at the end of this month!"

Sharing the Good in Goodwill! ๐Ÿ’š
Sephโ€™s journey to earning his Core 40 Diploma through The Excel Centerยฎ Evansville Southeast is a story of resilience, determination, and hope. Growing up, Seph faced tremendous challenges. His mother was absent from his life, his father struggled with disability and addiction, and his grandmother who raised him was abusive. These difficult circumstances eventually led him into the foster care system and a period of homelessness. His unstable home life led him to miss school and got him into legal trouble, where he was given the choice of jail or quitting school, he took the latter choice.
Determined to create a fresh start, Seph moved from Nevada to Evansville and began searching for a path forward. While exploring options to earn his GED, he attended a community event where he met the Student Recruiter for The Excel Center, who encouraged him to apply. That same day, he completed the enrollment form and quickly heard back from the school.
During his time at The Excel Center, Seph faced another housing crisis, but his Life Coach connected him with resources and support to help him stay on track. Although he struggled with anxiety at first, the encouragement and compassion of his teachers and Life Coaches helped him build confidence and meaningful connections. Seph shared, โ€œHigh school is not accessible for everyone, so the diploma is the best outcome from my time here, but the whole experience of The Excel Center is so welcoming. Having that opportunity when itโ€™s not an option for so many people is wonderful.โ€
Despite the hardships he endured, Seph never gave up on himself. Starting from zero credits, he persevered and ultimately earned his Core 40 Diploma. He proved that with the right support and opportunity, a new beginning is always possible.
Tomorrow, June 5th, Seph and eight other graduates will be walking across the stage to begin their next chapter in The Helms Hall starting at 6 PM! ๐Ÿ’š
