Although laws and online platform policies are gradually adapting to better protect minors, technology by itself cannot ensure children’s safety. The most effective protection for kids on social media still comes from the guidance of parents, caregivers, and other trusted adults. Families can support a child’s digital life by staying engaged. This means communicating openly, setting clear boundaries, and modeling responsible behavior. Read more on our blog: https://enoughabuse.org/how-to-protect-kids-on-social-media/

It's important to practice limiting your child's time on devices. Not only does it keep them engaged with the real world, but it also protects them from online threats.

Real talk: Love bombing 💣 isn't love, it's manipulation in disguise.

It can feel flattering at first, but love bombing is often used to gain control QUICKLY. Knowing what to look for helps you protect your emotional safety.

Here are 5 signs to watch out for from the Prevention Friday Crew 🚩

[Image description: A picture for Women Against Abuse’s Prevention Friday, featuring the words “Prevention Friday” in neon teal lights with a purple teal heart in place of a “v” in “Prevention,” and a group of red flags against a purple sky. Text is as follows: “5 Ways to Spot Love Bombing:

1. Over-the-Top Declarations Early On, “I’ve never felt this way about anyone” after just a few days. Love should grow with time — not pressure you to commit quickly.

2. Constant Communication, Calls, texts, and/or DMs all day long. What seems sweet can quickly become controlling.

3. Lavish Gifts and Grand Gestures, Big surprises, expensive gifts or excessive compliments. Especially if they make you feel guilty for setting boundaries.

4. Rushing Commitment, “Let’s move in together.” “I want to marry you.” Fast-tracking intimacy can be a tactic to gain control.

5. Pushback When You Need Space, Guilt trips or anger when you ask for time alone. Healthy love respects your independence.

Pro Tip: Love is respectful — not overwhelming. Trust your instincts. Take your time!”]
