Today, we remember and honor our dear friend Angie Bippus, who passed away last week at her home. Many people knew Angie as a volunteer, athlete, and friend. What some may not realize is that she was also Holly’s mother. The Indiana State Games family has lost its most dedicated volunteer, and Holly has lost her beloved mother.
For many years, Angie and her husband Mike, have been among the most devoted volunteers at the Indiana State Games. Whether they were preparing registration bags, assisting athletes with check-in, helping at events, or handling countless behind-the-scenes tasks, they were always there, generously giving their time and energy to make the Games a success.
Angie was always willing to help, always ready to give, and always eager to make someone else’s day a little brighter. Working alongside her was a joy. Her contagious smile, positive attitude, and servant’s heart were a big part of what inspired so many of us to return year after year.
Angie wasn’t just a volunteer—she was also an athlete who participated in the Games she loved so much. If you attended the Indiana State Games, chances are you saw her smiling face, experienced her encouraging spirit, or watched her competing alongside fellow athletes.
Angie’s legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched, the friendships she built, and the example she set for all of us. We are grateful for every smile, every encouraging word, every helping hand, and every moment we were blessed to share with her.
Rest in peace, Angie. Thank you for your friendship, your dedication, your servant’s heart, and the joy you brought to so many lives. You will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever loved.

Obituary for Angenita R Bippus
Angenita “Angie” Bippus, 76, of Evansville, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.
Angie was born on December 27, 1949, in Providence, Kentucky to the late Elmer Anderson and Reva (Cole) Townsend. She was a member of the Riverbend Association Auxiliary and served in a variety of roles on the board. Angie was also very active in the Indiana State Games and enjoyed her time volunteering and participating with them.
Angie was full of life from the moment her feet hit the ground. She was involved in athletic events when they weren’t allowed for women in that era. She grew up a ‘tom boy’ that was picked first for the team at playground time and after-school ball games. She always had a smile that welcomed conversation from everyone. You could say she never met a stranger. She enjoyed clabber and ice-cold beer, not necessarily in that order. Her favorite memories with her grandkids were playing board games, attending their many sporting events, and she was an artist who enjoyed drawing their favorite characters on cardboard boxes and making homemade Sequence boards. She loved it when the grandkids would stay over – spoiling them with items of their choice from dollar stores.
Her lifelong love of taking pictures of her family, and especially her grandkids, will continue to be treasured. She was always the photographer at events. She was selfless, and her love for her family and friends is what Angie will be remembered for the most.
She meant the world to her family and will be loved Always and Forever.
Surviving Angie are her husband of 42 years, Mike Bippus; daughters, Holly (Marc) Schneider and Cindy (Eric) Anslinger; son, John (Sarah) Reis; step-sons Michael (Becky) Bippus, Chris (Debbie) Bippus, and Matt (Karen) Bippus; sisters, Diane Conklin and Donna Woods; brothers, Larry (Glenda) Townsend, Eddie (Rita) Gazelle, Ben (Debbie) Townsend, and David (Karen) Townsend; and grandchildren, Brandon Bippus, Tyler Bippus, Madeline Schneider, Miranda Anslinger, Wade Schneider, Raelyn Anslinger, Landon Anslinger, Zoe Bippus, Cody Bippus, Will Bippus, Jacob Reis, and Caleb Reis.
In addition to her parents, Angie was preceded in death by her stepfather, Ben Townsend.
Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street.
