What a weekend for River City Pride! 🌈❀️

This past weekend was packed with community, celebration, visibility, and Pride!

On Friday, we hosted our Pride Music Night & Resource Fair in Haynie's Corner Arts District , bringing together community organizations, resources, music, and fellowship!

On Saturday, River City Pride proudly joined the Indiana Pride Network and dozens of Pride organizations from across the state as we marched in the Indy Pride Parade. It was an incredible experience to stand alongside so many LGBTQ+ Hoosiers and allies, demonstrating the strength, resilience, and unity of our community. Seeing thousands of people celebrating authenticity and inclusion reminds us of our 'why'.

Then on Sunday, we wrapped up the weekend with our Pride Pickleball Event, where participants enjoyed friendly competition, laughter, and community-building both on and off the courts. It was a fantastic way to bring people together while promoting health, wellness, and connection!

As Pride Month continues, we're not slowing down! We have even more events, opportunities, and celebrations ahead, and we can't wait to share them with you!

Thank you for being part of our River City Pride family. 🌈

Today, we celebrate the anniversary of the landmark Supreme Court decision in Bostock v. Clayton County, a historic victory for LGBTQIA+ rights and workplace equality.

On June 15, 2020, the Supreme Court ruled that discrimination based on s*xual orientation or gender identity is discrimination based on s*x and is therefore prohibited under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

This decision affirmed that LGBTQIA+ individuals deserve the same workplace protections as everyone else.

Bostock was more than a legal victory; it was a powerful statement that LGBTQIA+ people belong in every workplace, every community, and every corner of society without fear of discrimination.
We honor the advocates, attorneys, plaintiffs, and countless community members whose courage helped make this ruling possible. While progress has been made, the work continues to ensure that every LGBTQIA+ person can live, work, and thrive with dignity, safety, and respect in our community.

Today, we celebrate this milestone and recommit ourselves to the ongoing fight for equality.

Happy Anniversary, Bostock v. Clayton County! πŸŒˆβš–οΈ

πŸ•―οΈπŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆβ€οΈ Today and always, we remember the victims, survivors, families, and the entire Pulse community.

Today marks 10 years since the tragic shooting at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida. On June 12, 2016, 49 innocent lives were taken and 53 others were injured in what remains one of the deadliest acts of violence against the LGBTQ+ community in United States history. Pulse was more than a nightclub. It was a sanctuary. A place where people could laugh, dance, love, and simply be themselves without fear.

Ten years later, we still carry the names, stories, and memories of those we lost. We remember the families whose lives were forever changed. We remember the survivors who continue to heal. And we remember a community that refused to be broken by hate.

The Pulse tragedy became a defining moment for LGBTQ+ people across the country. In the face of unimaginable grief, our community showed extraordinary resilience. We mourned together. We stood together. We fought for one another. And we continued building spaces where everyone can feel safe, seen, and celebrated.

As we gather throughout Pride Month, we do so with both joy and remembrance. Pride was born from courage, strengthened through adversity, and sustained by generations of people who refused to disappear. The best way we can honor those lost at Pulse is to continue creating a world where every LGBTQ+ person can live openly, authentically, and without fear. This year, to hold space for all those we’ve lost, to carry their love with us, and to honor our loved ones, we saved a seat just for them during our Pride Festival and Parade. 🌈

To the 49 souls we lost: you are not forgotten. Your lives mattered. Your love mattered. Your legacy lives on in every Pride celebration, every act of advocacy, and every person who finds the courage to be themselves.

Today, we invite our community to take a moment of reflection. Light a candle. Say their names. Share their stories. Hold your loved ones a little closer.
