Coming out can be a big step, a small step, or something that happens many times throughout our lives. For some, it can be joyful and freeing. For others, it can be difficult, complicated, or simply not the right time.

There is no one right way to come out, and you never owe anyone your story before you are ready. ❤️

This National Coming Out Day, we celebrate everyone who has found the courage to live openly and authentically, and we stand with those who are still figuring out their journey.

Whether you're out, questioning, somewhere in between, or proudly supporting someone you love, you belong here. 🌈

Let's continue creating a community where everyone feels safe, supported, accepted, and free to be exactly who they are!

🎃👻 HALLOWEEN + COMMUNITY CARE = THE BEST KIND OF TREAT! 👻🎃

River City Pride is excited to bring back our 5th Annual Trunk or Treat! 🏳️‍🌈🍬

📅 Sunday, October 25
⏰ 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM
📍 Bosse Field

Come out for a FREE afternoon of Halloween fun for the whole family! Dress up, bring the kids, check out the decorated trunks, and grab plenty of FREE candy! 🍭🍫

But we're adding a little extra magic this year. ✨

Thanks to our local Walmart Spark Grants, we'll have FREE non-perishable food items and hygiene products available for families and individuals who can use them. Think of it as a community care table, with a little more Halloween spirit! 🎃🛒🧼

No applications. No judgment. No questions. No stigma.
If you could use something, take something. If you don't need anything, that's okay too! We're all about making sure our neighbors have access to the things they need.

Because community means looking out for one another. ❤️

Bring your family. Bring your friends. Wear your best costume. Come grab some candy. And most importantly, come be part of a community that believes everyone deserves to feel welcome, supported, and cared for.

YOUR BALLOT IS BIGGER THAN JUST ONE OFFICE!

Your ballot can include federal, state and local offices.

Some of the people you vote for will make decisions about:

🏳️‍🌈 LGBTQ+ rights
🏫 Education
🏥 Healthcare
🏠 Housing
🚨 Public safety
⚖️ Courts and prosecutors
💰 Local budgets
🚌 Transportation
🗳️ Elections/ Election laws & Process
🏛️ State laws

And you don’t have to know every race before you start.

You can look up your actual ballot. Research the offices. Research the candidates. Make your own decision. We have created this guide: this includes the Federal & State offices that COULD be on your ballot, not every candidate will be listed on your ballot due to the district, township, city/ county you fall under.

🗳️ EARLY VOTING IS COMING & HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

You do not have to wait until Election Day to vote.

Early in-person voting for the 2026 General Election begins Tuesday, October 6.

📍 VANDERBURGH COUNTY EARLY VOTING

📅 October 6–30
🕘 Monday–Friday: 9 AM–5 PM

📅 Saturday, October 24 & Saturday, October 31
🕘 9 AM–4 PM

📅 Monday, November 2
🕘 9 AM–NOON

Additional early-voting locations will open later in October, including locations at North Park Library, Oaklyn Library, McCollough Library, West Side Christian Church (replacing Red Bank Library), Cedar Hall, Northeast Park Baptist Church. Check the county’s current schedule before you go! *Vanderburgh’s is included in the photographs**

🪪 WHAT ID DO I NEED?

Indiana requires a government-issued photo ID when voting in person.

Your ID must:

✔️ Have your photo
✔️ Have a name that conforms to your voter registration record — it does NOT have to be identical
✔️ Have an expiration date and be current, or have expired after November 5, 2024
✔️ Be issued by Indiana, the U.S. government, or a federally recognized Native American tribe

Common acceptable IDs include an Indiana driver’s license, Indiana state ID, U.S. passport or military ID.

🚨 Don’t have the right ID? Don’t automatically assume you can’t vote. Indiana has a provisional-ballot process and certain exemptions to the photo-ID requirement.

🏳️‍🌈 MAKE YOUR VOTING PLAN

Before you go:

1. Check your registration.
2. Check your ballot.
3. Choose when you’ll vote.
4. Know where you’re going.
5. Bring your ID.

And remember: October 5 is the deadline to register or update your voter registration for the November 3 election.

💙 Connecting with the next generation of community leaders! 🌈

Today, River City Pride was proud to be at the USI Campus & Community Action Fair hosted by the University of Southern Indiana’s Center for Social Justice Education!

Our board member, Lonna, represented River City Pride and had the opportunity to meet with young minds who are passionate about making a difference in their communities. 💬✨

Our mission is simple: to unite, educate, and serve the LGBTQIA+ community. Events like this give us the chance to share that mission while connecting with students who may want to get involved.

We talked about opportunities to:
🏳️‍🌈 Volunteer with River City Pride
🤝 Get involved in leadership and community service
🎓 Learn about our new scholarship opportunity
💡 Connect with our programs, events, and initiatives
🌈 Find ways to support and strengthen the LGBTQIA+ community

We believe the future of our community starts with people who are willing to show up, get involved, and make a difference. We’re excited to see where these new connections lead!

A big thank you to USI’s Center for Social Justice Education for creating space for students and community organizations to connect. 💙
